Well-connected public figures report that they have been told recently by Rudolph Giuliani that, as of now, he intends to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008.
The former mayor of New York was on top of last month's national Gallup poll measuring presidential preferences by registered Republicans, with 29 percent. Sen. John McCain's 24 percent was second, with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich third at 8 percent. National polls all year have shown Giuliani running either first or second to McCain, with the rest of the presidential possibilities far behind.
Republican insiders respond to these numbers by saying rank-and-file GOP voters will abandon Giuliani once they realize his position on abortion, gay rights and gun control. Party strategists calculate that if he actually runs, he must change on at least one of these issues.

Sorry, meant that for mathprof and the thread.
Just notice you posted thrice. My deal is for only one of them!
The CC Pubbie establishment will try to ram this down the national party's throat but I don't see it happening. It could actually work to McCain's advantage unfortunately.
I just hope someone else steps up soon. These two choices just ain't cutting it.
Damn, I wish Cheney was in better health.
What is it with east coast liberal politicians who think they should run for the presidency? Please don't tell me that Rudy is a conservative. He's a RINO.
So you agree Allen is a dork as was Kerry and Kerry lost?
If Rudy wants to win no way he will be a gun grabber he will leave gun statutes to the cities.
He has already spoken out against gay marrage.
And on the campaign trail he speaks highly of Roberts ans Alito...he will again say abortion is a states issue.
Rudy will be a fine POTUS.
GO RUDY
You need to quit reading your history from the "Lost Cause" propaganda of the late 1800s. I am glad you are proud of your heritage, however that does not excuse knowing lying about historic facts.
Your "facts" are utter nonsense based on any rational, serious understanding of history.
Lincoln did NOT "trample" the Constitution. A state of insurrection against the Govt existed. You do not get to be "Rebels" then demand he protection of the US Constitution. Your side claimed the Govt dissolved, therefore your side can not make absurd claims to a right to protection. In a state of insurrection you are an enemy of, not a member of US civil society and the President full war making powers as Commander in Chief can be brought to bear on you.
Southern fire eaters knowingly and deliberately started the war to maintain the existing political status quo. They felt the only way to maintain their position of dominance over souther society, both poor white and slave, was to break free and form their own nation. They knew that the Northern greater population and land for settlers available mean inevitably the south would simply lose the demographic battle over time against the North. Lincoln did everything he could to find a compromise that YOUR heros Jeff Davis et al were NOT interested in at all. YOUR people started the war. To claim any different is absurd.
The Income Tax was institute in Oct 1913 by the 16th Amendment to the Constitution. 36 states ratified the Amendment. WE did it to ourselves via the wholly right and proper Amendment process. To blame one person for someone for the Income Tax is both childish and intellectually vacuous. When the tax was imposed, Lincoln had been dead 48 years and 6 months. The Income Tax was NOT imposed by Lincoln.
ABSOLUTELY!!!! I'm bookmarking this thread! LOL! The last time I had a bet about an election, I won .. big time! It was the 1994 mid-term election, I met a silly little liberal boy in an AOL chatroom. He lived in Chicago,I remember. I told him the Repubicans would sweep the election, he bet the opposite. The wager? The loser would have to send the winner flowers with a note saying.."YOU WERE RIGHT, I WAS WRONG. THE ________________ ARE OBVIOUSLY THE SUPERIOR PARTY AND KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE STATE OF POLITICS TODAY. Well, the day after the election, I received the most beautiful flower arrangement I have ever seen... with that note. It was wonderful. He was one of the few people of either party who actually paid up on an online bet.

You know Kerik has had some issues but he did a great job as Chief of Police in NY. Forgiveness is a good thing.
What about SCOTUS picks?
I'd vote for him too.
Why are all my posts being double or tripled posted?
I'll also point out that Kerry didn't lose because he was a dork -- he lost because just enough moderate voters saw him as mentally unstable.
Allen's a dork.
One thing I fear from Rudy as POTUS would be his pick(s) for The Supremes.
"What about SCOTUS picks?"
McCain is pro-life and Giuliani is pro-abortion.
It is in the U.S. Constitution - - not an issue for cities to decide...
Good luck in the Democrat primary...
Well comare the picks that Rudy would make vs. a Democrat.
