Just Kos? (MEOW ALERT - Lefty Blogs v. Dinos Catfight!)
Hartford Advocate ^ | july 6, 2006 | Adam Bulger

It´s the sort of thing that makes you hate the Internet.

On June 21 New Republic senior editor Jason Zengerle posted on the magazine´s website portions of a message Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, the founder and public face of popular liberal blog dailykos.com, sent to a private e-mail list. Zengerle said the message, which primarily concerned Moulitsas´ request that his fellow bloggers refrain from writing about Securities and Exchange Commission allegations against blogger-turned-online-political-consultant Jerome Armstrong, showed that Moulitsas issued orders that other liberal bloggers dutifully followed. In an entry titled, ¨The Blogosphere´s Smoke-Filled Backroom,¨ Zengerle accused liberal bloggers of displaying ¨a sheep-like obedience to [Moulitsas´] dictat .¨

On dailykos.com, Moulitsas responded. He termed the accusation a smear that exploited a message that was intended to be off the record.

Characterizing the New Republic as an irrelevant, dying publication, Moulitsas urged his readers to cancel subscriptions to the magazine and to write letters to its editors. Liberal bloggers echoed his objection, and mocked the notion that Moulitsas dictated their content.

The matter didn´t rest. New Republic blogger Lee Siegel discounted political blogging as ¨hard fascism with a Microsoft face.¨ The spat hit the mainstream on June 25, when conservative New York Times columnist David Brooks accused Moulitsas of acting as a ¨Keyboard Kingpin,¨ using his influence to tell other blogs what to write, and who to support.

The flare-up between the New Republic and dailykos.com has parallels with the Connecticut Democratic primary race between incumbent Senator Joe Lieberman and Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont. First, it exemplifies the conflict between the hawkish, centrist wing of the party (the New Republic /Lieberman) and the anti-war left (liberal blogs/Lamont).

But besides ideological similarities, allegiances have been drawn. The New Republic , which printed a lengthy endorsement of Lieberman´s 2004 presidential bid, posted three pro-Lieberman articles on its website this year, and called Lamont´s online supporters ¨Lamonsters.¨

Liberal bloggers, meanwhile, have adopted the Lamont campaign as a pet project, citing good news about Lamont as ¨Nedrenaline,¨ a mocking counter to Lieberman´s 2004 presidential slogan ¨Joementum.¨ Currently, Lamont is the leading candidate on actblue.com, with more than 2,000 donors contributing almost $77,000 (as of Monday).

Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, Hubert Humphrey and Scoop Jackson. Yeah, sure, they're all dead, but mere death hasn't stopped the Dems from obtaining millions of votes over the years, so why should it be a problem in filling out one "wing" of the Party?

"Moulitsas appeared in a Lamont campaign commercial, where he portrayed an enthusiastic campaign volunteer, eager to work with Lamont. "

All I need to know to tell me Lamont will lose.

These Marxists want to dominate the Democrat party and, ultimately, the US, but they want to do it in secret. This obsession with secrecy is in direct conflict with their desire for leadership. They don't have the maturity to understand this.
