These include indications of extra dimensions, black holes, strings, magnetic monopoles, etc.... I believe that all of these exist...
I read a newpaper article long ago about fantastic devices that would be possible if physicists ever found magnetic monopoles. Apparently, IIRC, if you got your hands on just a few monopoles, you could in theory manufacture an unlimited number of them and then build a large number of fantastic, other-worldly machines that would run on a flowing "current" of monopoles. These devices could do things no electronic device ever could. Wish I could find a description of these hypothetical machines once again. It was like reading science fiction.

Why, one deals with the extra dimensionality all the time. That's where the money tends to dissipate, no matter how tightly one budgets.

I'm sorry, I had to read that title twice...

as well as probing neutrinos and the stability of matter. Bah! I knew it! Another probe. You'd think they'd give me some privacy - but no! Again with the probing.
I tell you, you spin a couple times, maybe oscillate a little, and next thing you know some lab tech is selling images to the press.

In Dan Brown's book "Angels and Demons" CERN is an integral part of the story line. I thought the book was ALL fiction.

Lisa Randall, Harvard University, author of Warped Passages: Unveiling the Mysteries of the Universe's Hidden Dimensions
Warped Passages is a very good book, worth reading. Theory of extra dimensions beyond known 3 spatial plus time dimension. Even some dry humor included, and quotes from song lyrics.

Read some of Larry Niven's works. He writes about some the use of just these magnetic monopoles as the driver of a "Bussard Ramjet" which drives a magnetic constriction field which in turn powers a fusion drive.
