But in their final budget negotiations, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Legislature decided that it was better to cave to a small group of vocal Republicans who believe that sick 3-year-olds should be punished for their parents' actions.

Remember , La times is owned by The Tribune co. They also own many spanish speaking newspapers in the US. They may own tv and radio outlets as well. They are Tribune Broadcasting. Immigration pimps abound.

Legislature decided that it was better to cave to a small group Hmm....wonder how there define "small". Can a majority be small?
To: garbageseeker
Spewing their socialist mantra, as usual.
I can tolerate their slant in the news and adjust for it.
There is no hope for their editorial page--I ignore it.

In March 2005, medical experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that rubella (German measles), one of the greatest fears for expectant mothers, is no longer a health threat in the United States. A professor of medicine and infectious diseases at the Mayo Clinic said that we cannot stop immunizations as cases continue to come in , particularly from the southern border. Immigration laws require that legal immigrants have complete medical examinations to determine whether the immigrant carries any possible disease

Actually, are we also punishing all of the poor children in Mexico by not going down there and taking them away from their parents who cannot afford their health care, food, education, etc? I haven't heard any liberals make THAT arguement.

Or are we supposed to wait for an outbreak of Chagas before we do anything? FWII, TB and polio, which were "eliminated" in the US, are making a comeback, mostly due to our soft legal immigration and, of course, illegal immigration.
