U.S. Senate candidate Katherine Harris talks with supporters at the Martin County Republican headquarters in Stuart on Monday morning. The informal meet-and-greet was one of several of Harris' campaign stops on the Treasure Coast
Darrell Orman, senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Stuart, prays with Harris at Martin County Republican headquarters in Stuart on Monday morning.
Lightning-rod political figure Katherine Harris made two Treasure Coast appearances Monday to her Republican party faithful as part of an effort to boost grass-roots support in an uphill battle against incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson.
Harris spoke at Republican headquarters in Port St. Lucie and Stuart, pitching tax relief to jumpstart business, tougher immigration laws and heightened border security between the United States and Canada.
"We don't talk enough about the Canadian border," Harris said in Port St. Lucie. "They've got signs written in Arabic up there. The bleeding in America is our borders."
Roxeanna Boyette, 69, who attended the meeting, seemed to be in agreement. Speaking of illegal immigrants, Boyette said, "I hear they're walking right through the woods."

I have to laugh at the media sometime. Their blatant acts of obfuscation are so patently obvious, and childish sometimes.
Having been the prime movers in trying to paint Katerine Harris as "controversial", they now feel their effort has succeeded so well that they can confidentially use that label to describe her.
The not so funny fact is that to most of their audience, they have succeeded in doing to Harris exactly what they wanted to do - villify her, because she did her job instead of bending the law and the rules to support Gore's vote shopping expedition.
I agree with you that Harris is getting shafted by the MSM. And I'd add that for all his insistence on loyalty, it would be nice if W showed some loyalty to the woman who faced up to the vilification, obeyed the law, did her job, and kept Algore from stealing the 2000 election.

The only thing that's going to be controversial will be how she's going to defeat Nelson , defying the odds once again .
Right on....she will not only defeat Nelson, defying the odds...she will defeat the FL MSM.....once again!
Indeed, 'controversial' seems to be in the eye of the beholder,
or whomever holds the lion's share of the Press&Media !
Dubya (happy birthday, Mr. President!) had her aboard Air Force One a couple of months ago, and he has shown her far more loyalty than many here on Free Republic.
What the..????
Harris comes to my town and no one knows about it or reports it till the day AFTER??
TCPalm is as lefty as it gets and are collectively doing everything they can to destroy Harris with the rest of the MSM.
On no, no media bias here, folks. Move along... Nothing to see...
If Harris is "unelectable," it is because she went out on a limb for W in 2000. That deserves some recognition, and a flight on AF1 just doesn't cut it.
How original.
Home town PING.
Let's hear it for STUART! WOO HOO!
I have read quite a few threads here on FR in regards to Katherine Harris and noted the amount of arguing and bickering that goes on. I would have to say the term "controversial" does indeed apply.
By that metric, the "controversial" pejorative would apply to almost every politician in existence.
My initial comment was focused exclusively on how the media has manufactured an all-pervasive, negative zeitgeist around Ms. Harris that even many self-professed "free thinkers" on this forum have swallowed hook, line and sinker. That, to me, is much more "controversial".
Since the left failed in its slow-motion attempted bloodless coup in late 2000, the leftmedia has has nothing but rabid harred for KH, and has spared no effort in portraying her negatively at every opportunity. "White is black, black is white", and all that...
No , you're just seeing the DU infiltrators trying to dissaude the people on FR from supporting Harris . They despise Harris ,just as much, if not more than W . They infiltrated a long time and have been laying in wait to come out against our candidates that they hate the most .
