I had never thought about it, but certainly if I would wish to purchase say, new under ware for the sake of argument. Somehow I think that particular example would be more bothersome for a woman president. Dubya's a guy, so he probably never bought his own underwear anyway.
Unless it was something obnoxiously male. Like boxers with hammers, guns, or budweisers on them. Maybe cowboy hats or Texas flags. Ever notice that most of the cool boxers are for men?

I think you'd need to be Commander-in-Chief of our nation's finest people to be able to wear that shirt and get away with it. Dubya looks right at home in it. Funny how he always looks great.
