Ken Lay did not destroy many lives - he destroyed one life: his own.

Anyone who claims that Ken Lay destroyed his life is a loser with zero sense of personal responsibility.

Obviously you didn't work for Enron amd you weren't there. The employees could not take the money out of Enron stock to diversify it. A company rule which coincidentally did not apply to the ones making the rule (the execs).

People who do harm to others and claim its not their fault because the other allowed himself to be taken advantage of are called sociopaths.

Would you be taking the same stance if your job, your pension and your life savings were wiped out by the fraudulent actions of a few people?

I am disappointed to see you painting with such a broad brush. Weren't Enron employees' 401k plans locked to Enron stock? Did he (KL) not advise employees to purchase company stock while he was selling his own?

As an aside, a gentleman by the name of Jeff Grade destroyed my retirement funds in much the same manner. My life however is still intact . . .

Horse crap. His fraudulent actions wiped out the life savings of a lot of people. The man did more damage than all but a few criminals have.
