cause of death unknown
Too darn bad that he was enjoying Aspen at the time of his death. He should have been in prison.
Finally..... a death that won't be blamed on George Bush.
rofl.. love that book!
The suicide or not question is pretty important. Life insurance generally won't pay for suicide. He'll have to have been very subtle if the insurance companies demand an autopsy. This would be how he could repay his kids and wife for what they spent on his legal fees.
OTOH, he was a prime candidate for heart attack, and those do generate life insurance payments. I would not be surprised to discover life insurance was paid for covering him the rest of his life by Enron as a single premium policy 10 yrs ago.
The theorists are going wild. The latest is that "Bush had him killed to prevent any skeletons in the closet from getting out."
"I suppose the stress was more than his heart could bear..." .

They are saying heart attack. I don't believe it for a minute. The lying coward committed suicide, I'll bet, probably by some drug. May he rot in hell.
EDIT: More likely the Bush Crime Family shut him up for good before he could 'negotiate' a lighter sentence by telling what he knows about King George.
My hope for Ken's Lay family is that they have a dignified funeral and that RICO impounds all its assets.
Well, if Ayn Rand said it, it must be right.
"My guess is suicide."
good chance of it.....remember this?
The strange and convenient death of J. Clifford BaxterEnron executive found shot to death
By Patrick Martin
28 January 2002
Without anything that can be called a serious investigation, local authorities in a wealthy Houston suburb have whitewashed the death of former Enron vice chairman J. Clifford Baxter, calling it a suicide. Baxter, 43, was found shot to death in his Mercedes Benz in the early hours of Friday morning, January 25, near his home in Sugar Land.
Baxters body was discovered inside his Mercedes Benz, which was parked in a turnaround on a street near his home. Officials in Sugar Land moved swiftly to label Baxters death a suicide. Local Justice of the Peace Jim Richard initially declared that Baxter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and no further inquiry was required. But within hours he reversed himself, citing the intense public interest in the death, and ordered an autopsy.

I can't wait for the statements from Congressional Democrats on this, they will claim Karl Rove is back to his dirty tricks again.
What a shock. May God comfort his family.
Aspen is where Madeline Not Too Bright called in to talk about the missles from Korea..........hmmmmmmmm
Perhaps I should ping PJ....
I have to agree. Rest in peace, Mr. Lay. But that being said, I am still amazed, and probably shouldn't be, that the media loves to portray him as some sort of Pres Bush cohort enmeshed in corruption, instead of the FOB that he was.

Kira lives.
Lay committed fraud.
That's all.
He was not Hitler. He was not evil incarnate.
There are rapists and child molesters walking around free in this country - people need to get some sense of moral proportion.
