We'll never know now if Terri could have recovered. What will always fill me with disgust is the eagerness of so many of our countrymen to have her die just to make life more convenient for her husband. No, they never cared about her in the first place. Good riddance.

The questions about Terry Schiavo were posed before - Michael got the judge in Florida to authorize a murder.
At the very least it was abuse. All forms of therapy were withdrawn before it was shown to be effective, and withholding of food was the last exercise of that abuse.

The Leftists who oppose Capital Punishment will say, "Hey, that guy could be innocent! What if we find evidence 10 years from now that exonerates him? But we've already killed him? Rather than make a tragic mistake and send an innocent man to his death, we should abolish the death penalty!"
But Terri Schiavo? "C'mon! It's not like she's going to get better! No doubt about it! Cut off the food!"
The Left truly is a culture of death.

Hardly.
"Terri Schiavo suffered severe, irreversible brain damage that left that organ discolored and scarred, shriveled to half its normal size, and damaged in nearly all its regions, including the one responsible for vision, according to an autopsy report released yesterday.
"Although the meticulous postmortem examination could not determine the mental state of the Florida woman, who died March 31 after a judicial and legislative battle over her "right to die," it did establish the permanence of her physical condition." WaPo June 16, 2005

As much as many want to rehash Terri's tragic ordeal, the basis for one man's recovery isn't the template for all who suffer brain damage. The brain is an amazing organ and where some recover some don't. For those to say that this guy's miracle shows that Terry could have recovered are just plain irresponsible.

While doctors and neurologists are still baffled as to why Terry recovered, the doctors at the rehabilitation centre have indicated that Terrys recovery might be attributed to the visits of his family, who took him out on weekends and special occasions.Yes, I saw that on tv the other night and my first thought was of Terri. She was on the path to recovery (or at least some recovery), but that a-h Michael denied family visits and in fact denied all stimulation and would ask the nurses if "that bitch is dead, yet".

How strange a coincidence that we have a male and female named Teri/Terry!
All here have been painfully aware that Teri Schiavo received no recuperative care at all and was condemned for the lack of love from those who had the "pursestrings" of control over her.
How wonderful for this Terry and how Great our God IS!

The brain's plasticity has long been known about, but the mechanism behind it is not understood. Why some people with traumatic brain injuries improve and others do not is something for future researchers to reveal.

A cautionary tale to all who assert that a persistent vegetative state is hopeless.
On another note: it will be interesting getting Mr. Wallis caught up. Catching up with his loving and supportive family is paramount, but think about losing consciousness in 1987, and regaining it now.
