LITTLE ROCK - More than 3,000 people visited the Clinton Library next to downtown Little Rock on Tuesday, the Fourth of July.
The library gave free Hope watermelons to the first 100 guests this morning. An actor in the character of President Harry Truman drew big crowds for his performances and plenty of people also toured the Clinton School of Public Service.
Skip Rutherford, who is dean of the school, says as many as 20 potential students visited the school's campus on the library grounds. Rutherford says the school had one of its best single days recruiting.
Rutherford says Tuesday was the first time the Clinton library has been open on a major holiday. He says today's success will lead to more holiday events for the library.
What fascinates me is this was a headline on Yahoo News!! (rolls eyes)
How many people at the Reagan library today, I wonder? I think on any given day there are at least 3000, right?
RACIST!
Comparitively, there was more than 3,000 people in the local Wal-Mart.
Excuse me, this is considered a big crowd? My corner 7-11 probably gets about 1500 customers on an average day.
I hear the annual May Day celebration is even bigger.
The Carter Library is lucky if 200 show up most days.
More than 3000 people visited our local rest stop, off of I 70 today
I lived in Atlanta for several years in the 90's. On one occasion I took a wrong turn coming back from downtown and ended up at the gates to the Carter Library. I'll tell you the grounds and gardens looked great but there was hardly a car in sight.
Clinton School of Public Service = local brothel
A fancy name for recruiting and "training" future Monicas, as Bill has proved to have an insatiable appetite for young nymphets with kneepads showing their devotion to pubic service.
They forgot to mention they were giving away free jacks for trailers homes.
horney liberal women heard wjc would be cruisin the crowds
It does look sorta crowded.
What, for the price of admission you didn't get a bucket of chicken?
I do not think there will ever be an offer of "Hope" watermelon at any other site that honors an ex-President of the United States of America.
I believe that was a misprint of the add for the 'School for Pubic Service', and the only requirement are that the girls must be between the ages of 18 and 22, good looking and dumb as a Rhodam.
Just visited the Reagan Library only 9 days ago - I'm sure 3,000 is a low ball number for one of our all time great Presidents...Plus, it's so cool to get to walk on an Air Force One Plane (they have the old one in a huge hangar with a limo, police car and motorcycle and Air Force One Helicopter!)...Clinton's library had to give away Watermelons? They could offer to pay me and I wouldn't take it to see ol Slick's version of 8 years in power!
The real Harry Truman wouldn't have had anything to do with the place.
sure sounds promoted to me. When they have to give away watermelons at your library, on the 4th of July, just to get people to show up, you know your sunk.
How many of them actually entered the building, or was that part of the deal... you have to look around first, then you get your melon?
Last election, Gov Huckabee was raising Cain about them busing democrats in to voting centers and letting them vote the weekend before the polls opened. (absentee i think?)
So, how many people were bused in for free watermelon and did they know it was going to be at the Clinton library?
Hey, nobody does fireworks like drunk rednecks!
