Bay State wants everyone to count ( Mass losing people, money, congressional seats, power ... )
Boston Globe ^ | July 4, 2006 | Andrea Estes

Boston, as well as the state, has been losing population in the past few years.

If those numbers are confirmed by the 2010 federal census, Massachusetts could lose up to two congressional seats, as well as federal money for highway, education, and development programs that are tied to population.

Responding to concerns raised by the state's congressional delegation, local mayors, and Secretary of State William F. Galvin, lawmakers included $100,000 in the $25.7 billion state budget last week to pay a University of Massachusetts think tank to start researching the numbers to make sure that as many residents as possible are counted.

"Everyone is wringing their hands about how we're losing population," said Galvin, whose office will work with researchers at the Donahue Institute at UMass to try to track hard-to-locate populations.

``We want to do something about it, make sure every person who should be counted is counted. We're going to look in every nook and cranny in Massachusetts to count everybody who is here."

Mayor Thomas M. Menino said yesterday that the funding will allow the state to come up with its own population numbers and not have to rely on federal figures.

This isn't a good thing. These libs are looking for a cheaper place to live, that means more libs in conservative states.

My nephew met Bawney at a Synagogue in DC and said that he's really a smart, funny guy.

But he can no longer break wind.

Massachusetts could lose up to two congressional seats

What Massachusetts REALLY needs to do is to lose two senators.

> I suggest to you that a knowledge of the four cities/towns that I mentioned earlier is essential to truly understanding the politics of the state.

Well Boston is a bit complex, because you've got Boston proper, and ethnic neighborhoods like Southie, JP, Roxbury, etc. Cambridge, Brookline and Newton certainly lead the way in extreme leftwing PC nuttiness. But it's guys like Bob Travaglini from the triple decker towns who wield the power.

Why don't they just pass a law that gives every Massachusetts resident permanent rights to be a citizen and a felony to ever leave the state.

See...easy...especially for a bunch of flying Marxists.

I hope you are wrong.............We don't need them here in NC to tell us "how they use to do it back up north."

The truly funny (and disgusting) thing about the political landscape of this state is that Barney Frank may well be the most reasonable and respectable member of our Congressional delegation.

Your right. Tom DeLay said that he like Franks. He said he was a good guy. I was shocked, but thought I guess there could be some desent liberals, but I just never knew that. lol.

Should be easy for the left. Just go to a cemetery, write down the names, sign them up to vote, pay a few lefties to vote in their names. In case they need help, they can go to Chicago to ask how it's done.

MA. NYS.

Sure, my fellow Americans, vote for someone with those letters after his/her name. You can have what we've got.

"The state can start counting the illegals, the dead, the tourists, the university students from other states..."

Add the snowbirds into the above group, who vote in Floriduh and well as Masshole for the rats, and you then have a large % of the illegal voters for Masshole.

We have conservative friends who live in Floriduh and are amazed at how blatant the rat snowbirds from Masshole and NY are re voting in both states via absentee ballots. These friends live Jax down to the Miami/Key West area.

Double voting college students is another hidden outrage re Rat votes across the country. One can only imagine the amount that being done in the left wing Ivy league rat traps posing as universities in Masshole.

"That sounds just like the relationship between California and Oregon."

I feel sorry for those of you in Oregon with the left wing whackos in Portland, Eugene and other liberal hell holes controlling the state.

In the past 3-4 years, many who left California in the decade or decades before are returning to California.

We have two younger relatives, hard working young men who did the reverse. One came back 4 years ago, and another will be coming back next week. Our handy man contractor and his two brothers left Portland, Oregon 2=3 years ago and returned to N. California, they had to close their businesses due to lack of business. Here you have to get an appointment weeks later unless you have an emergency if you need their services.

A retired fly fishing friend in the early 90's used to fly to Portland and drive back with Uhaul Trucks/towing trailers and or rental cars to get the Uhauls or vehicles back to California. He worked some deal to fly fish a couple of days back down I5. That died about 5 years ago.

About two years ago he was contacted to do the reverse trip. So now he drives the Uhauls and/or rental cars to the Portland area, fishes up I5 and flies back home.

The recent higher prices of homes in Oregon has enabled or encouraged former Californians to move back south to get away from the Portland Islamo/Greenies/Rats.

We still have families moving to the Medford area when one or both get early retirement. They can buy reasonable homes, get full time or part time jobs and live a good area with a lot of conservative neighbors. They still are vulnerable to the liberal bs that comes out from up north like requiring fire bosses to be able to speak Spanish.

Our latest trend in N California is for the older/richer homosexuals to move to New Hampshire. They no longer move to Ashland, Portland or Eugene. They go to New Hampshire. The younger homosexuals are leaving for Austin, Texas.

It is interesting to watch the trends as people move for political or tax reasons or like many recent returnees from Oregon, better job security here. It is an American tradition. As an amateur genealogist, most of the relatives on both sides of our families moved for economic opportunities. My wife's clan basically for generations has stayed in one area, a couple of cities/towns in a couple of counties.

Have a great week.

"I live in Maryland , and hope to be moving in the not too distant future north to New England. New Hampshire would be my first choice, but Massachussetts only comes in second because of NH's tax benefits. Although we have four abbreviated seasons, from the mid-atlantic to the carolinas...summers can be brutal. Often Spring and Fall are only fleeting, and winter still gets cold. This year we had a splendid spring...but it's certainly not usual."

Well...all things told, maryland and Mass are about the same politically, socialist gun grabbers with a love for other folks money.

There was a survey after the Gore loss in Florida where the total registered Democrat voters were compared between NY and Florida.

There were 30,000 ? plus people who were registered in both states at the same time.

That did not include Mass, NJ...

Who knows how many voted twice for Gore...

In 19th-century Britain, they called this phenomenon "the rotten boroughs."

No problem. In view of Massachusetts' allowance of gay marriage, they can expect the natural increases that arise from more marriages.

Some may have vote more than twice to make sure that their dead relatives got to vote.
