It is my understanding that it is the details contained within the story (the existence of SWIFT in Belgium as the sole clearing house, certain methods of monitoring, etc.) which ere not known, and which were the security risk.

Of course we have all known that they monitor money in some way. How they did it was what shouldn't have been printed.

I saw Peter King or listened to him several times this week.I thought he did a good job of defending the troops against the abuses of the NYT.

I gotta tell you I feel really weird having to talk about a congressman defending the troops!

Why would that ever be necessary! What has happened to the country? --That question can only be answered by thinking back to all the lies and spin of the drive-bys.

They have really tried to do a job on the country, it almost worked, but we are stemming the tide more and more every day.

Barney Frank says "freedom of speech allows despicable people to fo disgusting things." And he said it without any hint of irony.

That must have been The-He-Oughtta-Know-Department.

Nothing you said is wrong. The problem is in addition to knowing it as to what you said. Methods and specifics were released. Brit Hume, earlier here, made this same point. Knowing we are looking for ties to finances is vastly different from telling them who is doing what specifically. Furthermore, this news alienates those who would work with us by making them fearful of being exposed.

Just remembering what NewsWEAK did when they falsely reported that the koran was being flushed down the toillet at Gitmo.

Not only is the media our enemy but they're the enemy of civilized society across the world.

People desperately trying to survive in the face of barbarians trying to murder them.

The media has chosen to be part of the terrorist organizations.

Forgot to say. Juan had this Pollyanna grin on his face and the camera turned away just as Brit started shaking his head in disgust.

Still, the terrorists and their financiers knew about the program and hey, Clarke was right. And, frankly, I'm a little perplexed why all the commotion.

You'll find that one of the Al Qaeda mucky mucks was caught via Swift monitoring in 2003, 2 years after W warned them about how we planned to track and stop their financing.

They clearly were NOT aware of the specifics of the program. When did anyone of us learn about the 'SWIFT' program? Last week.

It didn't prevent them from defending their actions. It seems to me today's talk shows was all about the press and their "rights". They sure were up in arms, poor things, they are being picked on (sarcasm!)

And to what do you attribute the falling viewer numbers for FNC.

It depends on an actual breakdown of the ratings. To do so, you'd really have to study them in 15-minute blocks and compare them to what is being broadcast on the channel in that time frame.

For example, are the stories repeated so frequently with no new information, that people get the gist of the story and tune out rather than watch like zombies at the same thing re-hashed over & over?

A more important question is where has the audience gone?

We know it's not to CNN or HaMASNBC.

My own personal view is that the core audience for Fox News Channel are ardent listners of conservative talk radio. And, after hearing the essential topics during their favorite show (Bennett, Ingraham, Hewitt, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, Bruce, Levin, Medved, Prager, or whomever (and I'm sorry if I left someone's favorite out)) they simply are tired and don't want to watch anymore, especially since the FNC format isn't as interesting or diverse as radio with it's callers.

If Hannity & Colmes or O'Reilly opened up phone lines, you might have, for a time, a bump upwards in the ratings.

Dang...I might just have to tune in for some of these replays. Sounds like some good exchanges from Bennett and Hewitt in particular. Plus, I must admit I rather enjoy watching the libs squirm and wriggle!!

Re: MTP, this is from NRO this morning:

Scandalous [Jonah Goldberg]

Today's "Meet the Press" roundtable, still going, is a scandal of media egocentrism. With the exception of Bill Bennett, the groupthink on display is staggering. Criticizing the media is inherently silly according to this papal conclave of journalists. Any criticism is either an example of know-nothing populism or cynical electioneering, according to Dana Priest, Bill Safire, John Harwood et al. Journalists are always heroes and leakers should never be prosecuted. We're always right, no matter what.

It's just an outrageous display of self-importance.

I am sooooo mad. They even shut down the lottery ticket machines

He also shut down the Race Tracks and depending on a court hearing the casinos will be closed...

So other than state sales tax, Corzine shut down the biggest per diem tax-earners for the state of New Jersey?

Shrewd.

hamas sending their terror types over the border and coming back with a million bucks stuffed in their underwear, hmmmm....sounds like a program that really worked

Sorry Fishtalk but I am not buying the average ordinary hausfrau line, you are lot smarter than that. You are light years ahead of some of the gals at the coffee clatches.

Bennett is a truly classy guy who obviously got really annoyed with all the lies spin and obvious attempts to stifle him at any cost.

He covers this stuff for three hours a day on his talk show and you really get to know your topic doing that. He displayed it today. It was a stellar performance.

John McCain is going nowhere. Not sure what they predicted in 2000 and if that was the case - he was wrong on both sides.

The media and the pundits can fawn over John McCain all they want, it just isn't going to happen no matter how much and how hard they try to make it happen.
