... Why accept people in a party that want to change 95% of what that party stands for?

Why put up with people who spend 95% of their time attacking Republicans.

You have no ability, (yet), to control 'acceptance', yet individuals have put up with whomever they choose.

We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all.

You're either a fibber or a very bad reader!

"Yep, I wanna win! I want the x-tremes put in their place! I want the intolerant and bigoted to know their bile and falsehood and fear and empty threats are now impotent, their day is over. Republicans will not be identified as racist, intolerant brown-shirted totalitarians. We will capture the great middle ground. The middle ground which we lost due to the x-treme's gross intolerance causing the flight! Time for them to regroup. What are you going to do?"

Yep, I like that. Sound good. I'm pretty satified you identify with those I disclaimed.

Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.

Ronald Reagan, 1966

Ronald Reagan fought to make the Republican Party as strong and conservative as possible. That meant fighting against moderates in the PRIMARIES. This is the general. Of the two people who might become Governor, Arnold is the more conservative.

The problem arose after conservatives had held their noses and saved Pete Wilson's sorry behind, twice. In both cases, Wilson did everything he could to kill the chances of conservatives in the lower ranks. Then the moderate party bigwigs refused to back conservative nominee Bill Simon; indeed, they sabotaged his campaign.

With reciprocity like that, the cohesion you crave is dead. It's not the fault of conservatives.

Fair enough--- but that's not what's happening here, since re-electing Arnold sets up Tom McClintock to be governor after him.

Liberal RINO Governors almost in every instance destroy the chances of a Conservative Republican to succeed them. McClintock has a better chance of being elected Governor if the Marxist wackjob Angelides wins in November.

>>>>>What is in the future for Conservatives, or those who embraced traditional Republican principles and the platform? Chase out the infiltrators or start anew?

At some future date, it might be necessary to create a national Conservative Party. Especially if the centrists keep inflitrating the GOP,undermining its conservative agenda. Only time will tell.

>>>>>Your namesake disagreed with your line of reasoning, as I'm sure you know--- otherwise he would have run against President Ford in the general election.

Wrong. First off, Ford was more a moderate Republican, not a liberal like Schwarzenegger and Giuliani. In 1976 conservatism was just beginning to become a major force in American politics. Reagan was instrumental in advancing a conservative agenda for the GOP and that carried him to landslide victories. Arnold is a liberal Republican and has little in common with Reagan. Reagan championed conservatism at every opportunity. Arnold pushes a liberal agenda.

I didn't say that at all. Those are words and a pretty stupid remark I might add.

Huh?

I didn't put words in your mouth--- I asked a question. Either you're for Arnold in this race or you're for Angelides, right? Anything that affects the race either helps one or the other win. So if you're not for Arnold, you're for Angelides. But I didn't say YOU were for Angelides-- I asked if you thought President Reagan would have supported Angelides i.e. not supported Arnold.

Let me answer you this way.

While some folks exhibit more passion in their opposition to liberalism, then they show in advancing the conservative agenda. Some folks follow the Reagan playbook and are passionate in support of conservative politics and policy. For those of us who thought Reagan was right in that regard, advancing conservatism is first and foremost. The furthest thing from our minds is supporting a liberal.

You people who seem to have such a strong passion for defending liberal Republicans like Arnold Schwarzenegger, exhibit a position that neither opposes liberalism, nor advances conservatism. Frankly, your rhetoric sounds like more of the same wishy-washy politics that embrace the status quo of big government liberalism.
