Well Jim I'm down for $50 now, my first-time donation as a Freeper. Please accept my words of embarrasment for having waited so long to jump on board as a contributor, but do understand that I will be showing up to pitch in again in the future. I have been reserving my "political money" -- I view this donation as falling within that category of my personal budget -- mostly for contributions to political campaigns and a couple of PACs I have supported over the years, but I have come to appreciate the right-minded (the double entendre is intentional here) public service you and FreeRepublic.com perform as something unique and much more precious than I understood at first. This is a remarkable forum in which some of the finest people I have ever had the opportunity to exchange ideas with come to gather and I am honored to participate.

I want to include a personal statement of appreciation for the core ideas around which you have founded this site, and I refer specifically to the brief statement of ideas you have on the homepage and your expanded comments linked from there as well. There are few things I could possibly say of anyone in which I would do more to express my appreciation of their civic virtue as an American than what I want to state here now:

You are a defender of the U.S. Constitution Jim, and I would consider it safe in your hands.

Anyone who knows me and things in which I believe would open their eyebrows wide to hear me say that, but I do so here with the utmost sincerity.

(1)Have you considered having a separate right side section just for live threads? I mean, wouldn't it make sense to enable people to immediately access all the live threads, ranging from the 24, American Idol, talk shows, etc, without doing searches that may not work. Just a suggestion, but I submit that it is a good one!

(2)Republican conservatism is theoretically built upon personal accountability. Yet FR admin. mods. appear to have free rein with no accountability. Even DU indentifies their mods. FR's mods have no consistency, accountability, but there are some good ones. But the bad ones get to hide and avoid accountability on the basis that it's a private website, so stfu. Not at all Republican conservatism. Set up an avenue where complaints against mods can be made and real complaints addressed. Yes it creates a greater workload, but if you want a top-notch website!! Thanks for your consideration and a good website.

I was proud to contribute as a California Freeper, now proud to contribute as an Oregon Freeper (especially now that it looks as if, with the exception of the People's Republic of Portland) Oregon is starting to go red!
