Up to 61 million Immigrants Might Flow into U.S. Under Proposed Reform
Rocky Mountain News ^ | July 1, 2006 | Robert Rector

Think the immigration debate is mainly about giving amnesty to the 10 million illegals already here? Think again. Amnesty is a drop in the bucket. The real issue is the staggering increase in legal immigration hidden in the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, recently passed in the Senate. By a ratio of about 4-1, U.S. voters would prefer less immigration, not more. But the Senate bill would do just the opposite. The original bill would have allowed as many as 100 million people to legally immigrate to the United States over the next 20 years. We're talking about a seismic shift of unprecedented proportions.

Facing criticism, the Senate has amended the bill - which now would allow "only" 61 million new immigrants. That still more than doubles the current legal immigration rate, from 1 million a year now to 2.5 million.

Current law would let 19 million legal immigrants enter the United States over the next 20 years; the Senate immigration bill would add an extra 42 million.

Why such extraordinary growth? Consider how the new law would work.

Under the Senate bill, immigrants could enter or attain lawful status within the country through nine channels. In each channel, immigrants would gain permanent residence and the right to become citizens:

"Pay attention to the author- Robert Rector

He knows this subject backward and forward. He's very credible on TV too."

He may very well be. I just think the number of illegals he starts off with is probably closer to 20 million than 10.

Just one of the many sources in this piece.

"The Tucson sector Border Patrol union local 2544 on the number of illegal aliens in our nation: "There are currently 15 to 20 million illegal aliens in this country by many estimates, but the real numbers could be much higher and the numbers increase every day because our borders are not secure (no matter what the politicians tell you - don't believe them for a second)".

The vast majority from the third world, of course. Western Civilization has been on a suicide mission for the better part of half a century, and the last nail is about to be driven in its coffin.

Bear Stearns estimated in January 2005 that there are between 18-20 million illegal aliens in America but of course some "illegal alien supporter" is tired of me "making up" numbers. LMAO

You and who?

Dane and Sinkspur and TexasForever, for starters. You know, the crowd that believes no amnesty is too lenient that there is no such thing as having too many unassimilated Latinos in our country.

One more hurdle has been passed in my efforts to bring my wife to the United States from Ukraine.

You should have her fly to Tijuana, change her name to Maria and come across that way. Not only would you be married, you would be getting free benefits, etc.

That crowd doesn't hold any beliefs other than if the President supports it, they support it. If the Prez supported the (no amnesty) House bill they'd support it too. Much easier for them that way -- no thought about any issue required.

I seem to remember those costumers faintly.
I also seem to remember them for rabid, personal attacks against Ann Coulter too. I call them The La Raza/MEChA Appreciation Society. :)

Ah I see. Just ignore all fact, history and reality. What we FEEL is now all that matters. How utterly Leftist the Antis are in their behavior.

Ok. We start with 9, then went to 11, then went to 16, then 20, then 48, then 89 then 96 then 100 then 200 and now back to 61

I guess they realized that the 200 million number was a bit over the top since the population of Mexico is only 107 million. I would hate to be a mindless boob that always had to start barking at the moon when manipulators threw out "processed" red-meat.

Oh I am thinking history alright.
I am thinking of the Alamo.

"Up to 61 million Immigrants Might Flow into U.S. Under Proposed Reform"

LOL!!! Does anybody realize that is about 60% of Mexico's entire population? I'm as anti-illegail0immigrant as the next guy but to believe that essentially 2/3 of Mexico is going to pack up and sneak accross the border is just, well, silly.

We do not need all these people, legal or illegal. Aren't our traffic jams bad enough? Not to mention all those entitlements that newcomers feel they are entitled to.

That 9 to 11 million figure cited by the pro-amnesty contingent is far from the only stat being invented. Tony Snow told a couple of absolute whoppers on The Factor the other night:

1) "The crime rate among the illegal alien population is lower than that of the American population at large."

2) "Illegal border crossing have been going down every year since 2000."

I guess they figure that if they repeat these lies often enough the electorate will start to believe them.

"It is that simple, but so few can see it coming."

The RINO's, K00laid drinkers and the B-bots seem perfectly ok with 61 million Dum-o-crats as neighbors.
