Before the California Assembly adjourned for the summer they approved the biggest budget in California's history. A budget billons deep in red ink.
Here is a list of Republican Assemblymen that joined the Democrats and the Wilsonegger gang to pass the Austrian's BigBangBudget 2006-2007.
Aghazarian, Greg; Stockton - 26
Daucher, Lynn; Brea - 72
Emmerson, Bill; Redlands - 63
Garcia, Bonnie; Cathedral City - 80
Horton, Shirley; San Diego - 78
Houston, Guy; San Ramon - 15
Plescia, George; San Diego - 75

If these shameful folks are in your district you might think twice before voting to reelect them.
I'd be curious to hear what San Diego folks have to say about Plescia and his performance so far.
I'm residing far from the boarder but even this tired, old vintner can tell that Plescia is a made man with the Wilsonegger gang. Pete Wilson, Bill Thomas and Paul Folino probably made him a deal he couldn't refuse.

'A budget billons deep in red ink.'
If they can't balance the budget during this time of plenty, then they can't do it at all.
Guy Houston is mine, but he's generally OK...I'm not going to vote against one of the tiny handful of Republicans still representing the Bay Area.

There's got to be some mystery remaining in politics and a little hard work helps the memory.
If I could find it*, they could find it. This forum is not populated by the HTML challenged.
Thanks for the due diligence and, as always, excellent work product.
*From the link provided type in the text, search string "budget" and look around for Laird's name or the title: "Budget Act of 2006" (the first subtle clue). After the redirect, look for "Votes - Assembly Floor - 06/27/2006" (the second subtle clue).
LOL. I often use the same method you describe in searching for legislation. You get some real interesting results if you type in things like "Mexico" or "Trade".
In this case, I just wandered on over to Speaker Fabian's website and voila! A bill number! It made searching much easier (but possibly less satisfying, lol).

That's my problem. I don't traffic in anchor babies. Just too old fashioned.
From CaliforniaProgressReport.com:
Much of the action on the budget is hidden from public viewor at least obscuredand we will not know parts of it for a few days, as curious members of the public, the media, bloggers, and even the legislators themselves read what they have passed. The main piece of legislation, AB 1801, the budget conference report, which was passed by a vote of 54 to 22 in the Assembly and 30 to 10 in the Senate, is only part of this complex package. There were 12 trailer bills, some of them quite complex and byzantine, which also needed to pass with support from two-thirds of both houses for this to become a final product.
I checked Ackerman and Plescia's website first--to no avail.
Our legislative 'leaders' could certainly use some improvement in the webhosting business. As it is, I'm now receiving Ackerman's daily Senate news briefs about 20-48 hours after they are sent. So much for technology!
Keep an eye on the target.
Look for the resurrection of the indemnification of the Prop 57 bond holders after it failed last November. May be in one of the trailers or, more probably, buried in one of the bond measure initiatives for November. It's at the heart of the Austrian's BigBangBonds strategy and California is dead meat in the bond market without it.
I found the resurrection of the additional deferrals of borrowed monies (that they included in Prop 76 before).
It's hiding in Proposition 1A (bill: SCA 7). It may also have included the indemnification. I only scanned it.
(This is the measure that is supposed to lock in Prop 42. No surprise--It doesn't!)
By the way (if you didn't see it before), I put the whole Hall of Shame for the votes on the Bond measures on my freeper profile page.
I thought it might come in handy.
Plescia is my legislative rep. He's was a better soldier in the minority than as its leader.
