Note, this is not a defense of Siegelman of all, just saying, it's hard to get a jury to convict in cases such as this, and my personal preference when it relates to political corruption trials is to keep the federal government out of them.

Siegelman guilty on 10 counts.....Somehow I am not surpised that this Democrapic Creep Siegelman has been found guilty of corruption charges.

A few years ago he was bound and determined to honor Muslim Turks in his state over the objection of survivors of the Armenian genocide. There was a letter writing campaign hoping to try to convince him not to sign the proclamation.

He stubbornly refused to listen to the Christian community and signed the proclamation anyway...he was good at taking bribes!

Nice!! Anytime genuine political corruption is brought to justice is a good thing regardless of party affiliation.

I thought I heard on the news last month that Seigleman was going to run for governor. I thought it was strange that he would consider it when he was facing all these charges. I guess he thought he would get off.

He did run for Governor but was trounced in the Democratic primary. Siegelman and Scrushy both thought they would get off -- you could see it in their smirks as they walked out of the courthouse everyday. Nice to see those smirks wiped off their faces today.

When he tried to challenge his opponent to a debate, her response was: "don't you think you should settle your indictment issues first, before we debate".

It was never brought up again after that classic response.

Isn't Siegelman the guy who got beat but refused to concede and then refused to leave the governor's mansion? Har! No wonder he didn't want to leave!

I forgot to mention that moments after the Blackberry "verdict in" notification, the device alerted the attorney that "friends" were invited to Seigleman's campaign headquarters for a meet and greet. Go figure.

Time to get out the checkbook and help with Seigelman's "legal defense fund". Maybe pay for Mrs. Seigelman's Mercedes.

That's the thing with these people in "The System"...they are convinced they are so well-protected, they are above the law. Great to see the rule of law triumph in this case.

I have to laugh about this. Half of the living former governors of Alabama are convicts.
