The six-page letter, "The Challenge and Hope of Being an Anglican Today," was sent yesterday to the archbishops who oversee the world's 38 Anglican provinces in response to last week's Episcopal General Convention in Columbus, Ohio.
Archbishop Rowan Williams said the 70-million-member Anglican Communion may require a "covenant" defining theological orthodoxy on a wide range of matters, including homosexuality.
Local parishes that do not agree to it may be relegated to "associate" status, he said.
"We could arrive at a situation where there were 'constituent' churches in covenant in the Anglican Communion and other 'churches in association,' which were still bound by historic and perhaps personal links," he wrote, "but not bound in a single and unrestricted sacramental communion, and not sharing the same constitutional structures."

Episcopalians need to accept "that actions have consequences," he said, "and that actions believed in good faith to be 'prophetic' in their radicalism are likely to have costly consequences."

Which church will welcome me and my special lady cow Bessie?
Christ Church Episcopal in Plano, one of the largest Episcopal congregations in the United States, has announced that it will leave the denomination over what it sees as the Episcopal Church's leftward drift.
Church leaders publicly announced the plan Monday, five days after the end of the denomination's national convention in Columbus, Ohio. At that convention, the national church elected a new presiding bishop, a woman who supported the 2003 confirmation of a gay bishop in New Hampshire. She also supported the creation of locally authorized blessings for gay unions.
Looks like some finally getting fed up.
You must move to a progressive city, like San Franbisco, Berkeley, or maybe Boston. This alternative, loving, lifestyle should be welcomed as long as you keep the encounters restricted to the bed/barn room.
It looks like splits are upcoming in other denominations as well. PCUSA just agreed to a back-door method of ordaining gay ministers (the regulation against gays still stands, but local presbyteries can ignore this rule apparently). Some churches are grumbling about leaving, but in the meanwhile, lots of individuals shall head for the exits: PCUSA loses about 50,000 to 100,000 people each year out of 2.4 million.
