Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered special services to "find and destroy" the killers of four Russian diplomats taken hostage in Iraq.
The head of Russia's security services immediately pledged to see Putin's order carried out.

" Can you imagine the media orgasm that would occur if Bush used that language?"
"Media orgasm" is priceless ! The phrase cracked me up -:))))
Now, just imagine if Putin stopped aiding Iran and other psycho regimes and realized that undermining the United States in the long term is undermining Russian security too.
Using FSB thugs to hunt down Jihadist thugs (and other real thugs) instead of arresting human rights activists and scientists is the only proper use of FSB.
Again, I am probably aiming too far, but who knows ? -:)))

Even OJ can't find the "real killers".
I'm not too good in conspiracy theories. I obviously have no idea what Russian Diplomats were doing there. Maybe collecting intelligence, maybe something else ?
The bottom line is they were grizly murdered by Islamic thugs as were 2 US soldiers before them. All I want is to have these Islamist monsters being hunt down and dealt with appropriately, and I think using FSB for this is the appropriate use of FSB.
I understand their desire for a response, and making a noise could be helpful if only to call attention to the unacceptability of insurgents' and terrorists' actions. But how about providing solid help to the peacekeeping efforts? Not to mention the diplomatic efforts to bring about reform in the region.
The Russians don't screw around. They did exactly this when one of their agents got killed in Lebanon back in the 70s. That was the end of terrorists messing with them until these Iraqi bozos forgot the Russian rules--or never knew them.
I wish we played the same way--but we have to make nice and talk about 'bringing them to justice'

Well--I doubt that Putin will become partner with US on this one. However, if he at least could help in hunting the insurgents, that would be a big help.
Time will tell if there is a conspiracy or not. After all these years of Russia taking the insurgents/Saddam's side in this land of flowing oil, and now out of nowhere there appears an opening for their fire power seems out of the ordinary.
I do not take kindly to having a Saddam backing finger of accusation coming out of Russia for US making Iraq a dangerous place.
I remember the famous story attributed to former CIA head William Casey. Hezbollah kidnapped a couple of Russia diplomats in Beruit around 1982. The KGB snatched a couple of cousins of the (suspected) kidnappers, killed them and left their corpses with their penises sewed in their mouths. The Russian ('cusa me, Soviet) diplomats quickly materialized, unharmed.
Casey's comment: The KGB speaks Hezbollah's language.
The head of Russia's security services immediately pledged to see Putin's order carried out.
Did the UN approve this plan?
Will the axis of whiners start whining?
If they are smart they will do it clandestine and do not tell anyone. And it would not be a PR disaster, this will have beneficial impact.
Iraqi state exists, at least officially and has diplomatic ties in form of embassies.
I wonder if Putin wants to kiss their tummys first...
There are still foreign embassies in Baghdad. Should they be closed? Should Iraqi government have diplomatic status and recognition in the world?
