Suspect in Iraq Shrine Bombing Captured

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Iraqi forces have captured a key al-Qaida suspect wanted in the bombing of a Shiite shrine that brought the country to the brink of civil war, the country's national security adviser said Wednesday.

The official identified the arrested man as Yousri Fakher Mohammed Ali, a Tunisian also known as Abu Qudama. The national security chief said Abu Qudama was seriously wounded in a clash with security forces north of Baghdad few days ago. Fifteen other foreign fighters were killed in the confrontation, he said.

Mouwafak al-Rubaie said the ringleader in the operation, an Iraqi he identified as Haitham Sabah Shaker Mohammed al-Badri, was still on the run.

Al-Rubaie said Abu Qudama and al-Badri were in a gang that included two other Iraqis and four Saudis who carried out the attack.

. . .

Abu Qudama entered Iraq in November 2003 and was captured ``few days ago'' in Udaim, a village about 70 miles north of Baghdad, al-Rubaie said. ``Abu Qudama confessed that he killed hundreds of Iraqis'' in different parts of the country al-Rubaie said, but gave no further details.

``Iraqi forces and its intelligence have achieved major penetrations of al-Qaida and other terrorist groups,'' the national security adviser said.

Awesome news! I especially liked the part about the 15 dead foreign terrorists, and I hope this maggot succumbs to his serious wounds... after being thoroughly interrogated. Still at least one more cowardly sleazeball from this group to apprehend exterminate.

I like how Iraqi forces seem to get confessions so quickly.

Just like thugs over here, they need an alias. I've got one for him: Captain Dead Meat.

Yes! They're very persuasive. I wonder what their secret technique is? ;-)

These guys seem to all have about five or six names, and all of them sound about the same. Captain Dead Meat will do for another one.

"The question is always going to be how much we are willing to hamper the capability to catch heartless murderers in order to preserve the normalcy of our lives. Once the tradeoff is understood then the choices can be intelligently made." Frankly, I had no need to know about a Belgian company helping track financial records of terrorists. I knew, generally, that they were closing off the finances, and that was enough for me.

Some very good news. He and his companions are probably responsible for a LOT of the violence and things should subside somewhat for a while.

These terrorists got their money somehow, and now those who are still alive know more about how not to finance their ops. The NYT is clearly aiding and abetting the enemy.

Not seriously enough.

I hope the violence subsides, but I'll not be very surprised if it does not . . . not because our side has not been very successful, but because various groups operating in Iraq are getting cornered and desperate. Their only hope is to kill enough people to create the headlines that the MSM so dearly love to peddle.
