The only Democrat running for the Ketchikan state House seat says he'll drop out of the race following his domestic violence arrest Friday.
John V. Hanson, 38, is accused of hitting his wife in the head with a pistol. He is charged with felony third-degree assault.
"The allegations are not true," Hanson said in a brief phone interview Monday. He said he couldn't discuss details of the case.
Hanson planned to drop out of the race to avoid negative publicity for his party, he said. "It's unfortunate, but that's what I'm going to have to do."

Not very surprising to anyone who spends more than one minute over at DU--the place is a boiling cauldron of anger, hatred and violent fantasies.
It wouldn't surprise me if this guy was for "non-comeptitive sports" and other controlled releases of aggression. So much better to have kids play with dolls and engage in games where "everyone wins" than have them acknowledge and learn to control their impulses.
On a positive note .. the anger generated tends to get my blood really hot and moving .. giving me a healthy, rosey-cheeked glow that my mother would have looked at and said .. "Awwwww ... you're so cute."
I am sure the Democrats are more upset that he had a pistol then that he hit his wife with it!

As if anything a Democrat does to a woman is going to hurt the reputation of his party.
* Mary Jo Kopechne
* Monica Lewinsky
* Kathleen Willey
* Juanita Broaddrick
* Chandra Levy
You can beat, grope, rape, threaten and even murder a woman, but, if you promise to stand up for a woman's "right" to suck a baby into a sink, the Democrat women will still love you and keep electing you.
Too bad this guy dropped out. Sounds like he could have been a rising star in his party.
Well, that'll get her attention.
Yeah, let's put him in charge and let him run things, that'll solve the problem.
"I am sure the Democrats are more upset that he had a pistol then that he hit his wife with it!"
LOL!! That's good.
This guy's a rare honorable rat to drop out.
I'm sure it's Bush's fault.
