House Republican leaders are expected to introduce a resolution today condemning The New York Times for publishing a story last week that exposed government monitoring of banking records.
The resolution is expected to condemn the leak and publication of classified documents, said one Republican aide with knowledge of the impending legislation.
The resolution comes as Republicans from the president on down condemn media organizations for reporting on the secret government program that tracked financial records overseas through the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications (SWIFT), an international banking cooperative.

shouldn't they find out where the leak is coming from, first?
The Senate and House are just finding things to do lately. I think they are having spring fever and can't wait for their month off in August. Poor guys are just so overworked. /sarc.
I get so sick and tired of people like you making this utterly stupid claim. The difference is HUGE and has been pointed out with great detail time and time again here. But I'm sure you'll counter with the same stupid comparison like this:
"I don't see much difference between a crocodile and a chicken. They both eat food, They both have legs. They both have eyes. They both have ..."
Then go put them out of business. In the meantime, I'll take this resolution.
If they didn't put forth this resolution, you'd likely be hollering about that.
How about you take care of the "punishment" instead of throwing spears?
Lawyers make out like it means that it is OK to PUBLISH, because that particular mode of communicating was left out of the list!
The NYT has acted irresponsibly and as a result of their actions, I feel less safe and emotionally and psychologically traumatized by the NYT's aiding and abetting the terrorists who want to kill me. I seek monetary damages.
It will be interesting to see how many Democrats vote against this resolution!
I wouldn't call a house resolution a "get."
The NY TIMES and Bill Keller are mocked unmercifully here -- http://cgi.ebay.com/Osama-thank-you-card-sent-to-treasonous-NEW-YORK-TIMES_W0QQitemZ220002307068QQihZ012QQcategoryZ367QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Hey.... we are on the same team here. I'll take the resolution too but I'd like to see more, wouldn't you?
Yeah, real 'huge'. Bush has yet to veto any bad legislation that crossed his desk, and is the biggest spending President in U.S. history. In the true form of a liberal, he has run up our national debt to new highs and has overseen the biggest trade deficits in history. He is a globalist, a multi-culturalist who is working overtime trying to open up America to the world by fighting for the illegal aliens inundating our country, and for a global confederation of mutually enmeshed economies. Borders? They don't exist in Bush's mind.
Never forget, whoever you are, that our country is falling apart from within under the 'leadership' and supervision of a Republican dominated government. Like I said previously, I am seeing less and less difference between the two parties than ever before. The Democrats would push us over the cliff on a greased slide, the Republicans would do it without the grease, a little slower.
Start with two resolutions: one in the House and one in the Senate. Make the lefty Dems defend the Times. Put them on the defensive. Then ask the Times to give Americans(the public's right to know) who the leakers are! Put the Left on the Defensive and it is an educational effort for most of the American public who don't get their news from the Alternative Media!
I felt it was important, in the context of the current offense of the NYT...
Absolutely!!!
Now, I REALLY like that idea!! Excellent! Do we have a case? Any lawyer types out there that can tell us if we "have a legal leg to stand on"?
"The only sound the New York Slimes pays attention to is that of crisp green bills crinkling together. We need to hit them in their pocketbook. We need a mass boycott and letter-writing campaign to their biggest advertiser, whomever that might be. I did some googling and couldn't find an answer to that, but did find out that Proctor & Gamble is apparently the country's biggest advertiser in general. Who's up for a boycott with me???"
As I get this, you make a general statement, then a supposition, then call for a boycott on an inferred target, Procter & Gamble. You sure as Hillary sound like a liberal.
shouldn't they find out where the leak is coming from, first?
Perhaps the leaker is well known.....................as was his/her motives????????????????
