Guns are a social conservative issue? I thought it was a limiting of government issue as spelled out in the Constitution.

These votes are becoming fun to watch. There needs to be one a day after the summer recess.

"Radical courts have attempted to gut our religious freedom and redefine the value system on which America was built. We hope to restore some of those basic values through passing this legislative agenda and renewing our country's commitment to faith, freedom and life," Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., said Tuesday"

Get on with it already old man. Talk is cheap....DO IT Pronto and ASAP.

Go for it house Republicans.

Nothing like putting the RATS on the run, they hate to see these issues raised as it shows clearly to the American public the perversion they stand for, this should be fun to watch.

This is going to back-fire. People of all stripes are just about sick of the government busybodies talking "values" and doing nothing. They all come across as a bunch of hypocrites.

How about finishing implementation of the Contract with America first?

Follow through with your 1994 promises if you want anyone to believe your 2006 promises.

"Two measures relate to the rights of gun owners. One would prohibit the confiscation of legal firearms during national emergencies, barring practices such as the one that officials said arose in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit. "

This is so badly written, it leaves you hanging. What is the other gun measure? Perhaps national mandated reciprocity, as in commercial drivers licenses?

Denying Planned Barrenhood tax funding would be a good start.

House Republicans intend to hold votes this summer and fall touching on abortion, guns, religion and other priority issues for social conservatives, part of an attempt to improve the party's prospects in the midterm elections.

Republicans...our Constitution and the intent of our Founders are matters you folks need to be protecting and standing vigilant over every single day, not just those months prior to election day.

It's good to see that maybe the Republicans have a strategery for this election. Maybe Rove has been biding his time lo these many months, just waiting to spring the trap that shows the voters just where the rats stand on so many fundamental issues.

Now if the AG would indict the NYT, it would be all good. The rats would have to rush to the defense of their house organ and really expose themselves.

Do it!

Hmm, "GOP" and "Values" and...seems to be missing something. I think it begins with an "I" and ends in "mmigration."

Bu!!$#it. Religious freedoms are evaporating under Republican dominated government. They have neither the will nor the desire to do anything about it. I don't think they'll be able to get the so-called "Christian right" vote this time around, at least not based on these bogus promises. These lying hypocrites can't even protect the American flag from desecration, never mind protect our religious freedoms.

House GOP to focus on abortion, guns - The "American Values Agenda"

It's great that they have time to do this now that the budget is balanced, tax-code replaced and they've found a solution to the looming social security crisis.

Oh........................

All this time I've been under the impression that the gop is better known as the "stupid party" because the gop elected officials persist in pursuing "stupid" legislation.

Is it possible that the true origin of this moniker is the stupidity of the republican faithful who are stupid enough to fall for this obvious pandering?

This "American Values" agenda is another Republican ploy to once again sucker the Heartland into voting for a party that supports open borders, unlimited immigration, and equal rights for illegal aliens. While millions of illegals are pouring into this country because of the Republican Party's refusal to build a security fence or deport illegals, the House Republicans are busy trying to counter a non-existent flag burning crisis. I doubt more than a fraction of House Republicans even believe in their own "American Values" agenda.

This is why the House will hold on to their majority. I want the Senate to go down. Not really, but too bad we could not teach them a lesson of some type. The senate is not going to change. It will continue to be RINO country forever...well maybe not forever, but at least in the foreseeable future.
