This is one issue that's a female/male thing. What is the attraction of lighting things off that go boom? I, as a woman, don't get it. Can a FREEPER guy please say it in a way that I can understand? Thank you.

Eh..hard to explain, really. Men do things that defy explanation sometimes, kind of like with underwear. A woman will go to the clothing store to buy underwear even though she doesn't need any at the moment.
A man will continue to wear underwear until all that's left is the elastic waistband and a few shreds of cloth covering the crotch.
Sometimes it's just better not to ask such questions.

I'm not a FReeper *guy,* I'm a female - and I love, love, love fireworks and can't get enough of them. Mine don't really go *boom,* they light up the sky with beautiful showers of sparkles.
Sometimes they boom, too.
I don't believe it's a girl/guy thing at all.

No, not if you are female. It would be like trying to explain the joy of sex to a five year old. You might understand the mechanics, but never the motivation. The female mind is just not wired that way.
That's ok. We men aren't maternal either.

A) It simulates danger in a semi-safe way
B) It makes yourself known in a loud manner.
C) There is a certain art involved in the creation of pyrotechnics.

I am a freeper guy. And yet I don't get it either. There is something about blowing stuff up, knocking things down, and smashing things that we guys find appealing. We are often heard to exclaim things like "Cool!" or "holy **** did you see that?" , or the perennial favorite "Blowed up good, blowed up real good".
Of course, most of us also like to BUILD things, and MAKE things, so maybe, just maybe it is due in part to our innate desire..no..our need to change things around us, to manipulate and control. Or perhaps in reality we are just trying to be useful, and lose sight of what we are doing.
On second thought...perhaps we like to blow up stuff like fireworks, dynamite, old buildings, washing machines (Anyone see the video of the marines?) and so forth for one reason only: BECAUSE IT IS FUN!
The above only applies to real men of course, not the metro-sexual wussies we hear so much about.

Thank you. To a large extent it's a "guy thing". Guys just like engaging in activities that involve loud noises and a certain amount of danger
Like giving the wrong response when your wife asks "Honey does this make me look fat?"

Why do women leave the toilet seat down?
Didn't anybody ever flush a cherry bomb down the toilet in your high school?

I wish I could explain it, but then again I shoot Civil War cannons for a living. ;)
