This is one issue that's a female/male thing. What is the attraction of lighting things off that go boom? I, as a woman, don't get it. Can a FREEPER guy please say it in a way that I can understand? Thank you.
We're attracted to things that go "boom". It's no more complicated than that.
We're also attracted to women and are willing to slave away for decades to keep a few happy so cut us some slack!
Well I can't explain why I like it, but think of it like this. Tell me why buying new shoes is so satisfying? I only need one or two pair (dress and running).
BOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you don't get that, you will never get it.
We are men. It's what we do.
It is not.
I LOVE fireworks. We used to have a block party and set them off every year. I am sad that my children have been denied the experience.
All of the things I have that go boom involve having a Deer or some other animal fall down immediately afterward.
There are some things that can't be explained - just like my wife can't explain why she needs fifty pairs of shoes.
Good fireworks do more than just 'go boom' ... they paint the sky in bright colours and intricate patterns with fire and smoke; they accompany the painting with a symphony of whistles and reports. A good pyrotechnic is a work of art, a thing of great, but fleeting beauty.
I guess it would be like explaining color to someone blind from birth.
It's like audio porn. Does that help?
It was called an `ashcan' because it was almost a quarter stick of dynamite with a fuse in the middle. My juvenile cronies and I dropped them in the 55 gallon steel trash cans that people used to burn their trash out back in the alley, so they were usually full of ashes.
You light it, toss it in, run and .... WHOOMPH! Then a tall column of ash ascending, something like an atomic bomb, with dogs barking and old timers cackling and waving their newspapers at us and grannies calling the cops, but we were long gone.
What's not to like?
If you don't understand, you can't understand.
To wonder why it is fun to blow stuff up, from a man's point of view, is like wondering why one likes to breathe. It just is.
Blowing stuff up is fun. That is all.
They go boom?
Hey, my girls love to run around the yard with sparklers. But then again, maybe sparklers are the female version of fireworks.
I love fireworks. Not so much the noise, but the volcano of colored sparks shooting high into the air, exploding into other tiny, differently colored sparks that skitter away. Every year I make a note of the ones I liked best, but somehow can't find them the next year. You can buy acceptable fireworks in Virginia, but the really good ones (bordering on professional) are illegal here. Our deputies don't have time to waste hunting people down for having them, though, so many people bring them back from out of state & set them off anyway.
It is just so cool!....lol
It's the "fireworks gene." Men have it, women don't.
We're attracted to loud noises and bright lights; explosions, loud engines, smoke, electric saws, shiny objects in general. Must have some kind of survival value. Can't explain it. Start running an electric saw through some 2x4's and you'll have half a dozen guys show up standing around within about 10 minutes.
You nailed it. Lighting things that go boom.
My wife grew up without fireworks. Last year was her first year with fireworks and she was 38. She likes the fireworks that move or do some trick. Example, they have a little tank that moves about a foot and then fires off about 2-3 rounds. Having been in the army, she found it neat. My wife and daughters also like the fountains that have sparks.
I was surprised when she wanted to buy more this year.
I don't like pop bottle rockets or firecrackers since they don't do much but pop. My daughters love the snap pops which they throw and pop.
Yes they are beautiful but I can't hardly tell the fake ones from real except for the price and my wife had to have a huge one.
I love her and would buy an even bigger one if I could, after all it's only money.
