House Race Hotline Extra: Utah 03 Some quotes to illustrate the importance of this race.
"There is a very good chance that he could go down," Jeff Hartley, executive director of the Utah Republican Party, tells First Read. "You wouldn't have the involvement from the White House if he weren't in jeopardy." (NBC News)
Consultant LeVarr Webb: "A low turnout is expected, so be one of the few who make a difference and have a voice." (Utah Policy Daily) )
UT GOP Chair Joe Cannon "says he's trying to stay neutral" in his brother's UT 03 primary, "but it didn't come across that way" in his online comments about challenger/alleged Satan victim John Jacob (Salt Lake Tribune).
A poll published over the weekend by the Deseret Morning News and KSL-TV, conducted by Dan Jones & Associates, found Cannon ahead 46-33 percent among registered voters in the 3rd District. But 18 percent of voters remained undecided. "That's one of the highest 'undecideds' numbers I've seen so close to a primary election," said Jones, who has polled in Utah for more than 30 years. (Deseret News)
Jacob backtracks on his "Satan" comments: "What the [Salt Lake Tribune] reported and what I said weren't the same thing. It wasn't that [the devil] was trying to keep me out of Washington. I was just saying when you're trying to get into politics, there's a lot of adversity.
Contrary to reports of saying it was keeping me from being there, it was going to help me in training when I get there. It's not the devil; it's adversity." (Utah Policy Daily)
"Even Chris Shays has come around..."
Yeah, I remember seeing him on TV was immigration was all he heard when he was home...and he lives in CN...not even a border state.
Polls close 11 PM EDT or 8 PM PDT ( Utah is in PDT? )
He's as liberal as they come in the GOP and he gets it. And then you have a supposed conservative like Cannon who sells us out every chance he gets. It's like a world turned upside down.
I know what u mean. We'll have to see the results.
and they are flying the Mexican flag at the San Diego County Fair...

Cannon 56.5%848
Jacobs 43.5%653
Is this an opinion or actual results.
I just webbed to the UTAH election results page.
Nothing is listed.
The state is posting results...3 precincts so far.
Could u post the link?
Meese: "In exchange for allowing aliens to stay, he decided, border security and enforcement of immigration laws would be greatly strengthened in particular, through sanctions against employers who hired illegal immigrants. If jobs were the attraction for illegal immigrants, then cutting off that option was crucial."
In sum, RR may have supported amnesty but didn't anticipate the results, which is why Meese is cautioning about making the same mistake. I doubt that RR would have favored a reprise if he knew the results of the first amnesty.
I am sure a lot of people will appreciate that no matter what side they are on.
Probably not. Despite voting has gone electronic AND there was low voter turn out (which various talking heads predicted would help each candidate), the press in Utah is saying final results might not be known until tomorrow sometime.
They're going to keep pushing us that way until we accept it. Not that most of us ever will but it won't keep them from trying.
That tells me it won't be a run away.
"Probably not"
I may be on the opposite side than you, but thanks for posting the link.
I think their prediction of it taking so long are based on polling over the last few days which seldom seem to be accurate these days. There's only 3 out of 623 precincts reported so far. Once more precincts start reporting, particularly those where Jacobs is considered the strongest, that could all change.
Connecticut is FULL of illegals...especially Danbury. They are flooding into New England...high wages, and plenty of spacious homes to jam fifty or sixty of their kin into. Shays couldn't ignore the illegal menace any longer.
My understanding reading some polls, there was a huge undecided vote.
Most undecideds don't bother to vote unless there are other issues on the ballot.
