Ailes 'Fuming' at Fox News Channel
Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes is reportedly "on the warpath about his networks recent ratings slide and has given notice to staffers that hes willing to clean house, according to a report in Broadcasting & Cable.
The cable news channels overall prime-time ratings are off 8 percent in the second quarter of this year, and down 22 percent in viewers ages 25 to 54. The first quarter was also disappointing.
Rival CNN is also down, but only 2 percent overall in the second quarter and 18 percent in the 25-54 age group.
Ailes is said to be "fuming over what he views as complacency among staffers, according to B&C.
He feels production values are slipping and bookers arent aggressive enough, relying too heavily on the same faces.
A full-page "Now Hiring ad that ran recently in a trade magazine asked, "Can you make the cut?
Broadcasting & Cable reports that a Fox staffer said the question was not addressed to outside applicants. "That was aimed inside.
An Ailes spokesman declared: "Anyone who displays launch-type intensity will continue to have a job at Fox News. Those who dont will not. And that includes talent.
"Orreilly is their biggest ratings draw."
Probably because of his rotating political party. Each week he morphs into a different party playing the devil's advocate or something.
I think that's the Delphi MyFi.
I am not sure if that would work through your van; mine (a Roady2) isn't permanently installed in my car.
It works through an open frequency on the FM dial; you have a choice of maybe 10-12 channels.
That is the channel I usually watch instead of FOX. Many times when I become disgusted with FOX I switch to the other news channels to see what's happening there. (I never used to do that before)
HEY FOXNEWS ! All I can say is, is that FOX sure has changed since I refused to book hotels that only carried CNN.
Seems like FOX forgot that they are supposed to 'dance with the one that brought ya'.
Nam Vet
Yes, it is.
The railroading of these three young men can impact us all.... There's no evidence of this crime...and yet they are arrested, fingerprinted and indicted.
Yes, and now, thanks to the national media, everyone in the country knows about it.
Have you ever been on a grand jury? Where I live, the grand jury has to indict, and while it's said that a good attorney could indict a ham sandwich, there usually has to be at least some evidence.
None of us are safe if Nifong & this stripper get away with this.
They haven't gotten away with it yet. And where most of us live, Nifong isn't D.A., nor is he running for national office that I know of.
IF and WHEN the boys are convicted and appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, it will be national news. Right now, it's not, even if YOU are very interested in it.
I think it's more just that O'Reilly is really independent minded. He obviously leans conservative on most things, but it is refreshing how totally driven he is to highlight the two or three issues he thinks need to be paid more attention to (i.e. child molesters and weak sentencing laws).
Same here. I think that's Fox's main problem (aside from going tabloid and forgetting about the news, airing reruns of O'Reilly's show in prime time, etc.). Does Ailes not see this?
Suffice to say, I'm not the only one this is important to.
We'll leave it at that.
Love Tiki and I agree with Kiran taking a very extended maternity leave. She should take her idiot weatherman husband with her. The one person on Fox I cannot abide is Brigid Quinn. Nothing makes me change the channel faster than seeing her with her "deer-in-the-headlights"look.
I never said there wasn't an audience for tabloid TV. I just said it wasn't national news.
Meanwhile over at MSNBC, all Keith Olberman does is show footage of Bill O' Reilly.
Meanwhile, over at CNN, they are prosecuting our troops on air for Murtha.
Guess that move towards the political middle in your coverage Fox did not work out all that well hummm?

Finally, all the Fox talent writes books and then interview each other: boring.
Does anyone know what happened to Linda Vester? One day she was on and the next day gone....maybe I missed it but would really like to know what happened there! and who would I most like to see G-O-N-E???? Alan Colmes.....I can't stand that rat t&*d!!!!!!
It's her stuttering....
.she can't form a complete sentence without stuttering.....It drives me crazy.
I don't know if it's insecurity....or no ability to forcefully say something or what....
I turn her off every time!
I'm sick of Fox's doomsday bell during News Alerts. They ring that bell waaaaay to often. Killing the bell would be a good start.
I believe she was expecting her 2nd child.
RK, I absolutely agree.....I love both Brit and Brian....though, in my opinion, Brit is the hottest man on TV these days (Now that my Tay Tay has left the scene!)
No more Natalee Holoway!! Understand that Mom is dealing with tremendous guilt allowing a child to run wild on a Caribbean island. She needs other outlets. Why do we have to suffer for her poor parenting?
Enough with the Fox Alerts already.
Too much fluff in general. The new infobabes are beginning to look, and act, like bimbos. Linda Vester was good; guess she's on maternity leave or something.
Why have both Juan and Mara from NPR on simultaneously? It's enough that our tax dollars are paying the salaries of socialists; we don't need our faces rubbed in it.
The bottom crawl and banners take up too much space on the screen. (When anything truly important is happening, I'm at C-Span where the event is shown full-screen, and without any blathering by talking heads.)
A 24/7 Fox News Channel would be nice. After Greta's tabloid show, everything is a rerun.
The end.
LOL!!! It's so good to "see" you! I was just thinking about you the other day. Hope your summer is going good.
