I disagree Amelia... The Duke case isn't just a local case that's unimportant to the rest of the country.

Yes, it is.

The railroading of these three young men can impact us all.... There's no evidence of this crime...and yet they are arrested, fingerprinted and indicted.

Yes, and now, thanks to the national media, everyone in the country knows about it.

Have you ever been on a grand jury? Where I live, the grand jury has to indict, and while it's said that a good attorney could indict a ham sandwich, there usually has to be at least some evidence.

None of us are safe if Nifong & this stripper get away with this.

They haven't gotten away with it yet. And where most of us live, Nifong isn't D.A., nor is he running for national office that I know of.

IF and WHEN the boys are convicted and appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, it will be national news. Right now, it's not, even if YOU are very interested in it.

I refuse to argue with you, Amelia.

Suffice to say, I'm not the only one this is important to.

We'll leave it at that.

there usually has to be at least some evidence.

Other than the fact that there is a VISA charge to one of the boys' credit card for the dancer, there is not ONE SHRED of evidence that there was ANY kind of crime committed, much less a rape. And yes, we have seen or heard ALL the evidence, regardless of what Nifong says.

The State of North Carolina requires that the DA give exculpatory evidence to the Grand Jury; the way Nifong got around that was to just not LOOK at anything that didn't confirm his thesis of what happened in this house; he refused to meet or speak with the lawyers OR the players to hear their side of what went on, therefore he only "knew" what he wanted to know.

They haven't gotten away with it yet.

Three boys are indicted for first degree rape, in spite of every single fact being in direct contradiction to what he claimed in the fliers, the probable cause hearings, and the indictment. This is the proverbial "no way to unring a bell."

I'd say that he has, in fact, "gotten away with it."

As for the girl, she's not in involuntary commitment for being a drunk, nor did she lose custody of her children, which surely would have happened had she been arested that night. It's working out just fine for her so far.

46 boys, for all intents and purposes, have had their reputations smeared for the rest of their lives all because Mike Nifong needed black votes to beat Freda Black. A good man lost a prestiguous job as Lacrosse coach and 46 families across this country have had their lives turned upside down for political pandering by a man who is abusing the justice system in the state of North Carolina for his own end.

IF and WHEN the boys are convicted and appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, it will be national news

Aren't you forgetting the fact that, even if they are found innocent (not not guilty) or even if she drops the charges or even if it's proven it's all a hoax, that those three boys' names will ALWAYS be in the National Sex Offdender's Database? Isn't that something that this country needs to be aware of and discuss? That this can go on and nobody can do a thing to stop a runaway prosecutor? If it can happen to people from these family backgrounds, surely it can happen to the rest of us, right?

The way I see it, this should be MAJOR news to every person who believes in the truth and justice -- and to every parent who has a son this age; this is a MAJOR learning lesson for boys and parents, IMO.
