Pretty far. Who tipped off the feds to search Rush's luggage? Looks like they were looking for something that would give them cause to arrest him and they felt disappointed.

" This incident makes you wonder just how far their reach really is." Apparently the "reach" extends into U.S. Customs. Were I Mr. Limbaugh, I would consider moving away from Palm Beach County. I hate the thought of anyone allowing themselves to be run out of a place that they chose to live, but the reality is that they are not going to leave him in peace.

Question for the freepers out there. I thought Customs only had authority to search (without a warrant) if the plane was coming in from a different country. True?
If not, wouldn't the Customs folks require a warrant?

A few years ago two CHP officers were successfully sued for retaliating against a man who had lodged a complaint against him. I hope this is a situation that Rush could win a similar lawsuit if he chose to pursue one.

Limbaugh's attorney explains that the bottle carried the doctor's name for privacy reasons.Wouldn't that be the equivalent of the doctor giving him a physician's sample? Also, aren't doctors permitted to dispense drugs?

Mr. Limbaugh, like all of us here, has the rights to his privacy. It should be protected and shouldn't be released by anyone, particularly government officials. This release is absurd, totally unnecessary, and I think, illegal to boot!. US Customs officers are not supposed to release this kind of stuff until or unless criminal activity is being pursued by the local law enforcement authorities. I don't know the laws in Florida for this type of alleged violation, but I think it is a shame he has been embarrassed over a medical condition he might suffer from. He will be the butt of many jokes, and the receiver of a lot of ridicule from mean-spirited press folks, and I think that is a rotten thing to do to someone.

"Listening to Rush describe his trip to Washington, meeting the POTUS and Carl Rove, and such. And then he gets searched at the airport.
Hmmmmmm, and then we find he has DRUGS (which turn out to be Viagra) and the news is broadcast across the land.
Nah, no agenda by the media whatsoever.

The Liberals are terrified about Rush's influence.
That simple.
Yes, Bush is a highly valued target to them.
But it's Limbaugh they ultimately want. And I'm not refering to the whacked out grassroots base that is obsessed with Bush, I'm talking about the heavy weights in the business.
It's Limbaugh who helped bring about '92. It's Limbaugh that kept conservatism relevant post Reagan giving it a national voice. It was Limbaugh that helped win in 2000, 2002 and 2004. He wasn't the only one, but he IS the Face of conservatism and it is conservatives that have been bringing the estbalishment/Liberals down piece by piece. It's Limbaugh that will be there when Bush is gone.
This is just another sign of their desperation to take him down.

They were out to get Rush. Pursuing this type of incident isn't worth doing the mountain of paperwork that CBP has foisted upon it's employees. If this was just a regular Joe Citizen they would use officer descretion and have him dump his pills and let him go.
