A Jacksonville man says he was duped and robbed by two girls after attempting to meet with a woman he met on the internet.
The victim says he chatted online with a woman, known on her MySpace.com profile as “Natalia”, for two weeks before deciding to meet with her. He says her prfile showed sexy photos, and a blurb which said “just lookin’ for something fun”. That brief, friendly description was all he knew about her before they planned to meet.
"She sent me a message saying she thought she met me somewhere," says the victim.
They decided to meet at what she called her home at the Bentley Green Apartments.
“I went to [the apartment] and knocked on the door, and there was no answer. So I called her and said, ‘I'm here’ and there was no answer."
That is when two girls who were 14 and 15-years-old, approached him saying they knew Natalia, the girl he thought he'd be meeting. They also said they knew where he worked at what car he drove.
"This was not the girl that the picture was of on MySpace," the victim said.
Now sensing something was wrong, he was ready to take off, but was stopped by a shocking discovery.
"[One of the girls] took [a] gun out and put it to my head and told me to empty my pockets."
The girls didn't get much because the victim had forgotten his wallet. They let him go, unharmed, and he called police.
Police did a search of the area and found the two teens with another male suspect. They searched a purse and found two loaded handguns.
Myspace.com may have been developed for friends and music, but this victim had to find out the hard way that not everyone is logging on for the right reasons.
The so-called Natalia did tell the victim that she was 18, so he was shocked to learn he was actually talking to a 14-year-old. He says he has since removed personal information from his MySpace profile, like his salary and the kind of car that he drives.
Those teenagers are now charged with armed robbery and carrying a concealed firearm.
Doesn't matter what he was there for. The story says the "Natalia" he thought he was going to meet was 18, which is a legal age in all 50 states. From the info in the article, the only thing this guy did wrong was use bad judgement.

No it doesn't. If he went there to meet a 18 year old, which is what it states in the article, then his motives are irrelevent. If he went there to have sex, or to go for a walk in the park, it's a moot point.
Exactly what is it that you think he was there to do? From your comments, it's obvious whatever you have envisioned in your head is quite objectionable to you.
Certainly not when the wisdom is of the class being taught by Enterprise. I prefer my wisdom from people of intelligence, like our founding fathers, who believed in a system where people were innocent until proven guilty. To me, that just seems like a much better system than the Enterprise system of condeming people with innuendos not supported by any facts that can be presented.

Of course, this guy logged on for the right reason didn't he? Just a regular guy. Likes to have fun with females who post sexy photos of themselves, with no other information.

MySpace is used a lot by teenagers. I wonder if he is there a lot. Sure, she said she was 18. Yeah, I'd believe her in a New York Minute. And of course I would believe him too. Just an innocent babe in the woods. Once upon a time, I logged on to MySpace and met this girl who said she was 18. She posted sexy photos and said she was just looking for something fun. So, innocent me, I went to her apartment just to meet her. I was shocked, just shocked, when two teenaged girls robbed me. Thankfully, I forgot my wallet.

Well, since he hasn't been charged with anything, then he can't be guilty can he? Do you have a link to show that he has been charged with something?

I'm not condemning him. I just think he's an idiot. And I think his story stinks.
Other points you leave out were these two had been talking for weeks. So it was not just pictures, though most men who are honest know that figure is a thing looked at for first impressions. This man seemed to be using the truth (included his car information and job details) in some aspect and probable was gulible enough to think she was too (after chatting two weeks with her).
I don't doubt his hopes and dreams were somewhat physically driven, but face it, at near 40 now, I still know a pretty lady when she passes by. I can't stand M.Moore, but at least I give him some appreciation knowing that he did make a pass at a woman on national TV. Part of that giddiness I experienced when dating my wife, was the hope that someday we would be married and making wild passionate love. Now days guys want to skip the marriage part (unfortunately), but at least this fellow was taking his chances with the opposite sex (which is more than we can say about some libs and even some conservatives). He was pushing the envelope on the age, but it was legal as far as he knew. Men often lack the maturity of women their own age, and compensate by wanting younger women. My wife was very mature for her age.
Now don't get me wrong... I fully understand where you are coming from about how daft this fellow was. But sometimes that is a byproduct of desire and can't be helped. I would imagine he has matured somewhat since this incident, but being that he still has his profile up, you are probable right, he needs to mature great bounds more.

Obviously, the guy wasn't going over there for bible study with his new found friend. So what? He's an adult. He thought he was meeting another adult. Even if he went over there because she promised to let him dress up like the Big Bad Wolf while she put on a Little Red Riding Hood costume, there's nothing illegal about it.
There is absolutely nothing in the article that states or implies that he was intending to meet someone underage. So what if he met her on MySpace. It's also used a lot by adults. After those stories on Dateline about PervertedJustice doing the stings to catch child predators, my wife and I sat down at the computer together to check out Perverted Justice and MySpace. We were shocked to realize that within a 20 mile radius of our home, there are over 100 "adult women" (this story makes me wonder about that), who claim to be "just looking for fun". Some are married, some are single, some claim to be married swingers looking for other couples to have "fun" with. Big deal. If they are adults, then so what, to each his own. It may not be the kind of lifestyle that would endear them to the church activity committee, but it's not against the law.
Two weeks ago, I hopped in my truck to run to the store for some groceries. Guess what? I got out of my truck and was halfway across the store parking lot before I realized I didn't have my wallet. It was sitting on my dresser at home. People forget their wallets. It happens sometimes.
You sarcastically comment that he might have suspected he was walking into a robbery, which is why you suspect he intentionally "forgot" his wallet at home. Personally, if I thought I might get robbed by going someplace in particular, I wouldn't "forget" my wallet, I'd just stay away from that place. This sounds odd to you, I'm sure, since your logic train says forgetting the wallet but going anyways is suspect behavior. What would you do? Oh gee, I might get robbed if I go there. Well, I certainly wouldn't want the robber to be disappointed, so let me stop at the ATM on the way over and get plenty of cash. From your comments, this would be what you consider to be normal behavior.
All in all, I think your main objection with this guy is that he went over there, you beleive, looking for sex. Although that is probably a correct assumption, there is nothing in the article to verify that assumption, and even if there was, there isn't anything wrong with it, considering he thought he was meeting someone that was above the age of consent.
Even though these guys are looking for a little excitement, don't you think they should try something safer?

I agree. I also think there are lot's of incredibly dense people out there who think that by going to the nightclubs and swinger bars, they are going to find someone to have a meaningful long term realtionship with.
My cousin spends at least 5 nights a week prowling around in various nightclubs looking for his next ex wife (he already has a collection of about 4 or 5 of them).
A couple of years ago at a big family gathering, he and I ran to the store to get something for my grandma. He didn't want to go to the first cashier, because she was his ex wife. The second cashier was an ex girlfriend, the third cashier was ok with him, but one of his ex wifes was in her line to check out, so we finally had success checking out at the fourth register. He meets all his girlfriends and wives in bars, and when they have their first argument, one or both of them always take off and head back to the bars.
Notice that there was "another male suspect" arrested as well. That's where the scam comes in. This other guy, probably a bit older, figures this is the perfect set up. What guy is going to go to the cops when he'll be accused of having a rendezvous with underage girls? They figure they steal the wallet, he leaves, and they'll never hear from him again. So he gets these girls, and they pull this thing off repeatedly.
Glad they got busted.

A romantic assignation arranged through a website turns bad, and persons on that website were misrepresenting themselves. I must say I'm shocked. But then I would be since I'm really a 13-year-old girl named Jessica who's just out to meet generous older men for some fun...

These two statements are poorly written or they simply cannot logically be reconciled. Here is what it says:
1. He chatted with her for two weeks BEFORE deciding to meet with her.
2. After chatting for two weeks, and before they planned to meet, that brief friendly description was all her knew about her.
He's trying to have it two ways. He chatted with her for two weeks, therefore he had some knowledge of her. On the other hand, all he knew about her was from some photos and come comments.
