Rush Limbaugh was briefly detained Monday at Palm Beach International Airport when customs agents inspected the conservative talk show host's luggage and found Viagra that belonged to two Florida doctors, authorities said.

"He was not arrested," Palm Beach County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Pete Palenzuela said.

Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black, issued a statement through a spokesman saying that agents found a "non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes."

Limbaugh, 55, of Palm Beach, and three others arrived on a private jet from the Dominican Republic to the General Air Facility at PBIA on Monday afternoon, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service said.

Agents searched the plane during a routine customs inspection and found a pill bottle that was not in Limbaugh's name, said Jennifer Connors, a Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman. Agents confiscated the medicine and called the Sheriff's Office, which took over the investigation.

"Mr. Limbaugh was cooperative. He gave a statement that he had a bottle in his possession and that it was Viagra," said sheriff's spokesman Paul Miller, who noted that the prescription was filled in Florida.

Two words...

Karl Rove

Yep, Karl Rove had someone falsely plant the story so as to make Limbaugh look like a victim

"So basicly, this is one BIG non-story. The only reason this piece was even written was because...he's Rush Limbaugh...."

Almost, this piece was written to embarrass Rush Limbaugh.

The libs tried to get him and failed they are hoping to nail him while he is on probation. Face it the Demos and libs know that Rush is a major reason the Democraps are not in power, (not because he is all knowing and blah blah blah but because his program is the beacon of Conservative thought kinda like a Conservative network that allows Conservatives a place to have their beliefs articulated to the masses).

The left knows this and are trying their best to squash his program.

Well, Patches Kennedy did not get the same treatment as Rush. In fact, he got a free ride, literally.

As for Fat Ted, it seems to me that if you murder a young woman and don't go to prison for it because of your family name and hush money, that wouldn't be the same treatment, either.

Funny that this particular plane was searched...

The man you could trust your mother, sister, or daughter with...but if that trust lasts longer than four hours, call a physician.

Each bottle/container he got from the drug store would have a little sticker on it that said something like "Federal law prohibits the transfer of this medication to anyone for whom it was not prescribed" (I can't recall the exact wording,I haven't seen it in a while).

I think you're considering "transfer" in the wrong terms. It is illegal for people to distribute prescription drugs to others for use or consumption. But it is not illegal for a person to purchase and carry (essentially acting as an agent) prescription medication for another.

>>>Funny that this particular plane was searched...

Doesn't the customs service search all planes and passengers arriving from foreign destinations? If they don't, then that leaves a mighty large hole for terrorists and drug smugglers to enter the country.

It has always been my understanding that it is illegal to take prescription drugs that are prescribed for someone else. The viagra was prescribed to his doctor (or two doctors, in some stories).

Rush had a legitimate prescription; the name on the pill bottle wasn't his, for the legitimate reason that someone at the pharmacy would likely have blabbed to the tabloids.

Customs officials were legitimately concerned that anyone -- let alone a man who is under court supervision for abuse of prescription rugs -- had a prescription bottle in someone else's name. I don't know if it would have been better or worse to go through Customs with the tablets in an unlabeled bottle.

They briefly detained Rush while they called the doctors, the story checked out, and they let him go. It's a little embarrassing, but I don't see where anyone acted unreasonably.

As Liberty Lee points out, doctors routinely give out samples of various drugs. Viagra is nothing new for them to give out. While I don't think it would have been necessary for him to carry it in someone else's container, it is still a non-issue if the Dr gave it to him as a sample.

But, once again, this appears to be an egregious case of someone's medical history privacy rights being violated. But since it's a leading conservative, it's ok.

Uh, has it occurred to you yet that this story is being hyped in order to get the treasonous media out of the headlines regarding their aiding and abetting terrorists by exposing secret anti-terrorism programs? ... I bet Rush brings this to our attention today. In fact, I'm gonna listen today while watching the World Cup matches just because I think his insightful analysis will be most interesting.

The drive by media is pissed! Rush has hit em where it hurts.

My guess, but I could be wrong, is that Rush will not mention it at all. The story will die much quicker this way.

BTW, as I was typing, I just heard on XM that you can call a number and for 6 dollars a pill and no Dr, prescription can have any male enhancer sent to your home??????

What's to be embarrased about? My hubby's doctor says he prescribes viagra mostly for men 25 to 40 years old.

IMHO, you are in a bit of a corner here, one can not have prescibtion drugs in their possession, that are not prescribed for/to them....a bottle of prescription drugs, with a label for DR. J. Doe, it just that, medicine for the use of Dr. J. Doe.

I love Rush. A die hard fan. It is getting a little difficult to enjoy his show when he is guilty of every vice I dispise.

I suspected he was guilty of some vices when he gave Bill Bennet a pass a few years ago.

As a Christian Conservative, I have a major problem with putting people that have major weaknesses in places a leadership. I am very forgiving, but I am also for giving someone else the leadership when the leaders falter.

Otherwise, the message gets lost.

It is the conservative message that is important, not the messenger.
