I love Rush. A die hard fan. It is getting a little difficult to enjoy his show when he is guilty of every vice I dispise.

I suspected he was guilty of some vices when he gave Bill Bennet a pass a few years ago.

As a Christian Conservative, I have a major problem with putting people that have major weaknesses in places a leadership. I am very forgiving, but I am also for giving someone else the leadership when the leaders falter.

Otherwise, the message gets lost.

It is the conservative message that is important, not the messenger.

Well, I just think he should've done what folks are expected to do and carry the scrip. But if he was that worried about being embarrassed, though I can't for the life of me see why, he should've just left it home.

Unfortunately, Rush is making himself the story here... which will interfere with his message. There is such a thing as leading with one's chin, and if one is setting oneself up as a pundit, and an articulater of conservative values, one needs to be a little more circumspect.
