Rush Limbaugh was briefly detained Monday at Palm Beach International Airport when customs agents inspected the conservative talk show host's luggage and found Viagra that belonged to two Florida doctors, authorities said.
"He was not arrested," Palm Beach County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Pete Palenzuela said.
Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black, issued a statement through a spokesman saying that agents found a "non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes."
Limbaugh, 55, of Palm Beach, and three others arrived on a private jet from the Dominican Republic to the General Air Facility at PBIA on Monday afternoon, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service said.
Agents searched the plane during a routine customs inspection and found a pill bottle that was not in Limbaugh's name, said Jennifer Connors, a Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman. Agents confiscated the medicine and called the Sheriff's Office, which took over the investigation.
"Mr. Limbaugh was cooperative. He gave a statement that he had a bottle in his possession and that it was Viagra," said sheriff's spokesman Paul Miller, who noted that the prescription was filled in Florida.

"Liberals can get away with:
Drowning women in cars
Caught accepting bribes
Receiving favors in the oval office
Slugging uniformed police
Stuffing top secret documents into socks
I could go on.......
But let a Conservative be caught transporting Viagra for his own use and it's Headlines to be splashed all over the news. Can you say "Agenda"?"
Umm, but all the things above were ALSO headlines, some of them for months and years.
He better hope it's less than four hours...
I'll have to research to be positive but I think you are wrong. In the case of certain controlled substances you must have a prescription in your name, but not for "any" prescription.
"Bitch set me up." -- M. Barry, Mayor of Washington, DC
This news is sure to pop up all over the place today.
I'm sure this incident has hardened Rush's attitude toward the authorities.
But...the headline was misleading....the information put out was BAD. It said that he was busted for 'Drugs--AMOUNG THEM VIAGRA'. That came out first...giving the impression he had other illegal drugs. I hope they can sue them somehow. Damn media. They are the enemy.
Whether it's a repackaged bottle or the original manufacturer's container, the label requires specific information with regards to what the medication is, who it is for, who wrote the RX, and which pharmacy dispensed it.
With the amount of abuse Rush has put his body through, it is not surprising he would need this particular prescription. He freely admits his failings, so there is no new information here.
It all sounds like an effort to embarrass Rush. But the number of guys who are on these medications, combined with the number of wives who are happy that they are, means that a whole lot of people are going to be very sympathetic to Rush's needs.
Thanks for ping and post. Limbaugh and Palm Beach in same news headline means a field day for witch hunters and the dee you site.
Caveat emptor ... the drugs you buy over the net are not always what you think.
I know, I wish Rush would be more careful he is a target it seems.
"To be honest, Rush made his name embarrassing liberals for years. The news coverage on this is goes-around-comes-around.
Ted Kennedy would get the same treatrment from Rush."
Wrong..........if your name is Kennedy, if you are found to be breaking the law, you are driven home in a private car.
No kidding. I don't remember seeing any of those things from your list in the news.
But Ted would not get the same treatment from newspapers.
Different situation. The article makes reference to a "bottle" having been found. That suggests to me a standard Walgreen's type of prescription bottle. The article also says that the doctor's name was on the container and it was given to Rush. These references suggest to me that the doctor wrote a prescription to himself and then gave it to Rush "for privacy reasons".
Yes,doctors are allowed to give out samples of allergy medicines and other non-narcotic drugs. But it sounds to me as if the doctor could be in trouble for violations of state/Federal law and/or medical practice standards (that is,AMA rules)regulations.Rush could skate on this,IMO.
Even private planes have to clear customs from an international trip. I have no doubt that the only reason he was given the full cavity search was because he's Rush Limbaugh.
"No kidding. I don't remember seeing any of those things from your list in the news."
This is sarcasm, right? Just checking.
