MIAMI, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, issued the following statement today in response to several inquiries by the media:

While going through routine Customs inspection of luggage at Palm Beach International Airport upon his return from an international trip, Rush Limbaugh was detained by customs agents after they noticed a non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes. After a brief interview, Mr. Limbaugh was permitted to continue on his journey.

"The law does no make any distinction between prescription drugs. Until the law changes, no CBP Officer is going to risk his job for Rush or any other traveler in violation of the law."

So no matter how trivial the circumstances, no matter how silly the facts of the situation, we can rest assured that the Government's automatons are going to act without thinking. Since after all, they are not ALLOWED to think.

"Ve vas chust followink orders!"

I feel so much safer now knowing that some mislabeled Viagra was stopped at the border.

Was Rush arrested or charged with a federal violation?

No, he wasn't! Hence, CBP thought it was trivial and not a violation of federal law.

Your beef is with the local sheriff that is investigating and turning the case over to a State prosecutor.

I apologize-I think I lumped you incorrectly into what they had said, both of whom called him "stupid" at some point.

I think you got lumped in simply as a function of being someone who offered the viewpoint of a government employee who was performing a task, which many of us do not have.

I agree, because I don't actually remember seeing you say it, please accept my apology.

They pissed away three hours of his time. They pissed away three hours of their time that I am paying for. And to top it off, they did damage the man by causing private and personal information to be made public.

We DO have a right to privacy in this country regardless of what government agents who enjoy their power to harass and annoy think about it.

You don't have to arrest or charge someone to make them suffer.

I make no distinction between the customs or sheriff in this, both are equally guilty of harassment and political targeting.

did damage the man by causing private and personal information to be made public.

Feel free to provide the proof of that.

Nothing in any article I've read indicates who contacted the media. And CBP does not contact the media, the media contacts CBP.

Now, it's possible, that an officer, in violation of CBP policy contacted the media; it's also possible, that the sheriff's department contacted the media.

No one, that is, again, NO ONE is allowed to reveal the medical condition of any one. It is illegal. Investigate this and someone has to pay.

I, for one, am just saddened that we won't be hearing any more of that Ted Kennedy 'Philanderer' song.

Isn't this a HIPAA violation?

I seems like one to me, but we must remember HIPAA is the one part of Hillary Care that passed. I'm sure SHE put an exception for leaking private information on Republicans in there somewhere.

Yeah. HIPPA. I can't ask questions about my wife, and the same goes for her. You get stupid messages on the answering machine that say things like:

"Someone at this address has an appointment for an undisclosed reason at an institution that cannot be named in a department that we cannot share with a professional person whose identity we cannot reveal."

And the funny thing is...the Libs were instrumental in getting this typically well intentioned pain-in-the-ass legislation passed to protect innocent people from evil conservatives who will bend, spindle, fold and mutilate their medical information to somehow improve their bottom line.

Can you say "Hoisted on your own petard"?

Knew you could...:)

What makes you think you will never hear it again?

They day they catch Rush Limbaugh, stinking drunk walking around in his boxer shorts trying to hit on his nephew's girlfriend is the day we can probably be sure we won't hear it.

Suppose Rush is cleared, and now he can sue the security guard, whomever, for letting it out that he uses Viagra. Rush loses. No way to recover his honor--legally.

Actually I think Rush has already won. He won by treating this as the light-fare, joke non-story that it really is.

That said, I hope Rush CAN sue somebody's a$$ off. Could be, though, that this is all a matter of "public record." Therefore, no "right" to confidentiality.

And even if this information were supposed to be kept confidential, sadly, it's nearly impossibly to sue most gov't entities, no matter how egregious the violation. (Think: Duke lacrosse players vs. Nifong.)

If anybody could afford to try, though, it would be Rush.

**Ok. Suppose Rush is cleared, and now he can sue the security guard, whomever, for letting it out that he uses Viagra. Rush loses. No way to recover his honor--legally. Meanwhile, the left can rehabilitate Richard Gere's image no problem. Is that what we want?

Like I've posted elsewhere, he needs to use this to his advantage---become a spokesman for Viagra and make even more money than a human being should be allowed to have!

Is it not apparent to you that, in the area of philandery, the only difference, now, between Rush and The Swimmer is in degree?

That's my point, to play that parody piece, now, constitutes an act of hypocrisy, whereas it was once a humorous and aptly-wagged finger of moral accusation.

I REALLY have liked listening to Rush over the years, and I won't cease to like his show on the basis of these events, but I do think less of his character, now, and THAT'S what bugs me most.
