MIAMI, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, issued the following statement today in response to several inquiries by the media:

While going through routine Customs inspection of luggage at Palm Beach International Airport upon his return from an international trip, Rush Limbaugh was detained by customs agents after they noticed a non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes. After a brief interview, Mr. Limbaugh was permitted to continue on his journey.

Put away the herbs and think.

The same can be said about your posts!

Since when did anyone ever look at your pill bottle labels when you go through Customs? We do all the time; it's part of the job.

Which just goes to show, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. When customs is spending time detaining American citiczens for possession of Viagra, something is seriously wrong.

My Bat-Sense went off when he said he was going to the Dominican Republic.

What do you mean by that?

Can you list the other laws you think Customs should overlook and ignore for your benefit.

No, not all of them, there are far too many. I don't blame the agents, mind you, they are just following the orders they get from their superiors. It isn't like they have any choice or say in the matter. But let's not pretend that busting Rush, or any other American, with Viagra is doing some great service to the nation.

First of all...it's humorous reference to the Batman show of the '60s...

Second of all...Rush...you had drug issues...that's a Latin American country and you have to get back in....

I'm not making that up...I did have the willies....

No, they are enforcing the law, as set by Congress and the President.

Customs let him go with no charges. It's the State of Florida that is pursuing this matter.

I think what the posters in this thread are trying to say is that customs, like all law enforcement, should show some form of discretion in cases like this.

There are threads on FR everyday detailing law enforcement and administrators going overboard.

Okay, riddle me this: I go to my doctor, I say I need help in the sex department. He gives me some samples of Viagra to try, I leave the doc's office and drive home, but on the way, I'm pulled over by a cop for driving erratically and when he ask for license and registration, he sees the pills on the drivers seat. What happens?

In Chicago, the cop cops the pills and sends you on your merry way.

God, are you ignorant!!! Read the thread, moron, before you post!!!

I'm not sure that you did. The prescription that he brought into the country was filled in the United States, not the Dominican Republic.

No...that's NOT what all of us are saying.

If you would read the thread, you would see that in ANY "travel for dummies" website, you would see clear instructions how to travel with presecription medicine.

Rush didn't follow ANY of it.

With his legal problems, if he didn't know how to do it...he's an idiot.

If his lawyer didn't TELL him how to do it, then he shouldn't get paid.

Most folks that we catch with drugs did not travel overseas with he idea that they would get drugs to smuggle back into the US.

It's just happens while they are vacationing, they discover how easy it is to get the drugs and make a bad decision and think they can get some through customs.

This year alone, I've gone through the bags of 2 very popular movie personalities. It had nothing to do with who they were, but where they had traveled.

Anyone coming back from the Dominican Republic is going to get looked at and especially if they are not flying commercial.

I don't dispute that at all. My point was that once the pills were determined to be viagra (which matched the label of the bottle) then it would be reasonable to just warn the person and then send them on their way.
