It's just happens while they are vacationing, they discover how easy it is to get the drugs and make a bad decision and think they can get some through customs.

I don't dispute that at all. My point was that once the pills were determined to be viagra (which matched the label of the bottle) then it would be reasonable to just warn the person and then send them on their way.

And when the CBP Officer got fired, would you and the rest of United States rush to his defense and help him get his job back?

The law does no make any distinction between prescription drugs. Until the law changes, no CBP Officer is going to risk his job for Rush or any other traveler in violation of the law.
