MIAMI, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, issued the following statement today in response to several inquiries by the media:

While going through routine Customs inspection of luggage at Palm Beach International Airport upon his return from an international trip, Rush Limbaugh was detained by customs agents after they noticed a non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes. After a brief interview, Mr. Limbaugh was permitted to continue on his journey.

The sleazoid lib war on Limbaugh continues. Can you imagine the thermonuclear 'privacy' uproar if this kind of leaking of personal, confidential medical info was inflicted upon a liberal, say Pinch Sulzberger????

I'd guess that ol' Pinch needs lots of viagra with his boy-toys, but if any CUSTOMS official ever leaked that info to the media we'd have a frickin' constitutional crisis on our hands.

The hypocrisy and double-standards of the libs never ceases to amaze me, even if it no longer surprises me.

Limbaugh detained at Palm Beach airport

Associated Press

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Rush Limbaugh was detained for more than three hours Monday at Palm Beach International Airport after authorities said they found a bottle of Viagra in his possession without a prescription.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement examined the 55-year-old radio commentator's luggage after his private plane landed at the airport around 2 p.m. from the Dominican Republic, said Paul Miller, spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

ICE officials found a prescription bottle labeled as Viagra, a drug that treats erectile dysfunction, in his luggage, Miller said.

"The problem was that on the bottle itself was not his name, but the name of two Florida doctors," Miller said.

Limbaugh reached a deal last month with prosecutors who had accused the conservative talk-show host of illegally deceiving multiple doctors to receive overlapping painkiller prescriptions.

The matter Monday was referred to the sheriff's office, whose investigators interviewed Limbaugh.

"He said he had the Viagra in his possession for his use and that he did obtain it from his doctors," Miller said.

Investigators confiscated the drugs, and Limbaugh was released around 5:30 p.m. without being charged.

The sheriff's office plans to file a report with the state attorney's office.

"We believe there may be a second-degree misdemeanor violation, which is possession of certain drugs without a prescription, because the bottle does not have his name on it," Miller said.

A doctor had prescribed the drug, but it was "labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes," Roy Black, Limbaugh's attorney, said in a statement.

Under Limbaugh's deal with prosecutors, the charge, commonly referred to as "doctor shopping," would be dismissed after 18 months if he continues to submit to random drug tests and treatment for his acknowledged addiction to painkillers.

I'm no fan of the WOD, but let's not bring that into it.

This isn't the WOD.

It's political harassment of a citizen, akin to siccing the IRS on him.

He ought to call them on it.

"Hmmm, wonder how it found its way into the media"

Presumably some sleazoid liberal customs official leaked the info, because there cannot have been very many people who knew about it initially. Rush should demand an aggressive investigation, 'cause I'd bet some official(s) violated at least agency regulations if not the LAW by leaking this info. Rush needs to make light of the viagra matter himself, on the air, as only joking about it might help to defuse the vicious media swarm. But with the feds, his lawyer Roy Black should call in all his contacts and DEMAND a thorough investigation to fire and prosecute whatever lib scumbag thinks they can go about passing info to the press about private citizens going through customs.
