I threw away a letter from Dick Morris today.
> We need to come up with a "Dick Morris Scorecard"
> and keep track of his predictions.
My first thought on seeing the slugline was:
"Hmmm. Morris needs a win, so he's going for an easy call."
But with Dick's record, I'm seriously concerned that
some evening on Fox, he'll predict the sun will rise
in the morning ...
Since outright statements to influence the race would be blatant bias, he does the next best thing
Spin, spin, spin
"Lieberman is too liberal for my taste on everything except the war."
And school vouchers (the teachers' unions have endorsed Ned Lamont).
While it's true that Dick Morris doesn't have a spectacular track record in accurate predictions, I think that it's possible that Lieberman could actually lose the primary.
Morris is quite annoying isnn't he? He just makes these predictions like bolts from Zeus presented as fact, and more often than not, the turn out to be wrong. He most certainly is very likely to be wrong in this case.
Seems like what is happening to DINO Joe with the Democrats is what the single-issue Republicans want to happen with RINOs.
Yeah, if they can do it to Joe, why can't we do it to Chafey, McCain, Specter, etc, etc, etc,?
Dick only has to get one really good prediction right, and he'll ensure another 2 years on the payroll. He's running short, so he's taken several long positions trying for the one big score.
After all, the anti-bill-clinton schtick only works for so long.
Morris:
"Hillary Clinton will NOT run for the senate from New York."
then:
"Hillary Clinton will NOT win the senatorial race in New York."
Good thing Morris is never tight. Just ask President Gore and Senator Lazio.
That is funny. True. I just hope Morris says Repulicans will get slaughtered this year. :)
I won't miss him.
I use to really like Morris and he does have some interesting insights on politics at times. But when he comes up with these "contra-conventional wisdom" predictions like this I see it as little more than an attention getter. His claim that only Condi Rice could beat Hillary is already falling apart badly as Hillary faces stiffer competition and opposition within her own party. I'm not saying the GOP should underestimate Hillary. We do so at our peril. But I can think of at least 3 potential GOP candidates that could beat her to a pulp. And that number may grow as we progress towards 2008.
This may shock some, but he doesn't always get it right.
Does he ever get it right?
You can bet the farm on Lieberman, now.
I don't even buy his Javits analysis. The senator was diagnosed with Lou Gerhig's disease, plus many Republicans were eager to vote him out because he was too liberal. If he dropped out and run as an independent, the Democrat might have won, or D'amato still might have beat them both.
If'd you'd thrown Dick Morris away we'd be better off!
Morris is fos. Liberman will win very easily in the general election.
