Well, are they going to do it or not? This doesn't sound like a big announcement to me.

Professor Churchill may request within 10 days to have President Brown or me forward this recommendation to the Faculty Senate Committee on Privilege and Tenure.
If Professor Churchill does so, a special panel will then conduct hearings about this matter and make a recommendation to the president about whether the grounds for dismissal are supported...

The conclusion one must draw from such examples isn't that every institution has its bad apples but rather that, at least in the liberal arts in America, moral turpitude and political hucksterism pervades higher education.
Radical criminals with questionable academic credentials flourish in a milieu that bristles with hostility toward real scholars who don't toe the party linewitness the case of former Harvard President Lawrence Summers.
Individuals with prison records or FBI rap sheets don't get into major educational institutions because they fudge their resumes.
They get in because they share the political dogmas of those who hire themand they flourish for the same reason.

Interesting.
I didn't see an effective date of dismissal, although it's probably moot since I'm sure Churchill will go through the appeals process.
Based on the procedures here, I'm going to guess that it's going to take at least four months to push him out:

A bunch of legal talk, getting ready for the attorney who got Jay Bennish ( The Denver high school geography teacher...) off.
"...another important step that has been taken in the case.
After conducting the due diligence I felt was necessary, I have issued a notice of intent to dismiss for cause to Professor Ward Churchill.
In finalizing my recommendation, I carefully reviewed the Report of the Investigative Committee, Professor Churchill's responses to the Committee, and the Recommendations of the Standing Committee on Research Misconduct.
I met and obtained the input of the Provost and the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and I met with Professor Churchill and his attorney..."
