Groups behind abduction want women, youths freed from Israeli jails

Palestinian militant groups that claimed responsibility for Sunday's attack on an Israel Defense Forces post near Gaza said Monday that they would provide information on the soldier kidnapped in the raid in return for certain demands.

The attack was claimed by the Hamas military wing, the Popular Resistance Committees and a hitherto unknown group calling itself the Army of Islam.

Corporal Gilad Shalit was abducted in the pre-dawn attack on his tank, in which two of the members of his four-strong crew were killed and the third seriously wounded.

A pamphlet sent to local Gaza media outlets Monday and signed by the three groups said that they would only release information on the fate of Shalit if Israel freed Palestinian women and under-18s held in its jails.

It is about time for Israel to strike some fear into the heart of Gaza. Carpet bombing comes to mind for about four hours every day until Shallit is returned alive. I do not care if anyone thinks this is Germanic in conception. I personally believe in killing all the Men, all the women and all the children of our enemies. Islam is the enemy!

Not necessary. A total annexation of Gaza and a transfer of population would work much better.
