Acclaimed actor James Earl Jones summarized it best when he commented, The world is filled with violence. Because criminals carry guns, we decent law-abiding citizens should also have guns. Otherwise they will win and the decent people will lose.
Although that concept seems quite clear to most Americans, the United Nations has failed to grasp its obviousness and is quickly moving towards a global gun ban.
As Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association stated, This fight is about more than firearms ownership. This is a fight for our national sovereignty, our individual freedoms and the future of our nation.
One organization leading the unprecedented movement to ban guns throughout the world is the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA).
Its director, Rebecca Peters, has ridiculed the idea of women being permitted to own guns for protection against violent attacks. Ridiculing Americans as paranoid, Ms. Peters stated, I think that eventually, Americans will realize that their obsession with arming themselves in fear, in a paranoid belief that they're going to be able to stave off the ills of the world through owning guns, through turning every house into an arsenal, eventually Americans will go away from that.
It should not be left to the communist country of Cuba, the terrorist-sponsoring nation Libya, or Sudan - the only country in the world that still allows slavery - to decide whether Americans have the right to bear arms. This summer in the United States, however, these nations, along with others who not only harbor terrorists, but also decry American freedoms, will be drafting the Treaty on Small Arms in New York.
As Adolf Hitler warned his fellow fascists, The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so.
The Founders of America knew that fact long before Hitler's tyrannical regime, but the founding fathers had confidence and faith in the power of freedom and self-government to lead us to a better, stronger society than pure force could ever accomplish. James Madison noted this in the Federalist, No. 46: [The Constitution preserves] the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation [where] the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.
Madison's words are still true today considering the majority of the 100 nations supporting the U.N. gun ban have nothing comparable to the Bill of Rights - they do not support freedom, they do not support self-government, and they cannot comprehend the liberties our troops protect every day in America.
We the People must stop the U.N. gun ban, and I would encourage you to join me by supporting the NRA's Shot Heard Round the World on the 4th of July. For more information, please visit www.stopungunban.org/, and as the NRA states, If millions of gun owners speak with one thundering voice of outrage, we'll stop the global gun ban treaty before it destroys our firearm freedoms.
(Herr Hitler. Probably swiped the comment from Josef Stalin.)

Hey UN, Hey Coffee Cup, you want mine? Come and get em!!
Hey Ms. Peters...drop by for a chat with any of about 100 million armed Americans and grab for their guns.
Between the oil-for-food scandel, accusing Americans of being stingy after the tsunami, Brown's claim that the "true facts about the wonders of the UN" are being kept from stupid Americans in the midwest, and now this, it almost makes you think the UN is TRYING to get us to throw them out. And all this while they're trying to coerce us to pay another 1.2 BILLION for refurbishing their building as well as cough up billions for their continued swindles and frauds. Can't wait for Bolton's smackdown of this.
The United Nations DOES NOT and CANNOT supercede the US Constitution
("Please Mr. Arafat...no toungues. Many people have speculated about where that toungue has been.")
Bump for later.
Exactly !
We need to get out of the UN and get the UN out of the USA.
The United Nations is run by international crooks. We should get out and kick them out of the U.S.
This calls for a celebration. Think I'll go out and buy a gun to celebrate! Special Sale - the Kofi Annan Memorial Sidearm Sale! Pick up on the two-for-one Rebecca Peters special! I've had my eye on several tasty items, but just couldn't justify the expense.
Thanks to the UN, now I can!
I really believe that we need a Constitutional amendment that states:
1) The Constitution is the last and final authority for all laws within the United States. No other state or collection of states or organization outside of the authority of the Constitution shall have any authority within the United States, except where granted by law and subject to the Constitution.
2) any treaties signed by the US that violate the Constitution are not enforcable
3) the US may at any time remove itself from participation in any treaty by either, complying with the removal provisions of the treaty or by the President serving notice to remove the US from the treat and approval by simple majority of the Senate.
To any governing body anxious to disarm citizens, I have this demand: Lead the way. Show everyone your good faith by completely disarming yourself, every agency, every agent, every bodyguard, everybody. Period. Show us you want to live in peace and be trusted. Then the citizens will see how sincere you are that they will immediately begin to trust in disarmament and voluntarily turn in all their weapons, criminals included of course, and the world will begin hurtling toward utopian perfection.
What do you suppose is stopping all governments from leading in this manner?
Have you ever studied or even read the Constitution of United States, specifically Article VI, second sentence?
"This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding."
For those government school diplomates, this might be simplified to 'this constitution and all treaties shall be the supreme law of the land. Any thing in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary will not stand.' But then the Second Amendment says 'shall not be infringed' and we all know just how moot is that.
And we keep it in existence with our financial support.
