Media Asked Not to Call Miami Terror Suspects 'Muslims'
CAIR ^ | June 23, 2006 | Ahmed Bedier

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MEDIA ASKED NOT TO CALL MIAMI TERROR SUSPECTS 'MUSLIMS' Sect trains 'through the bible,' worships in 'temple,' not mosque

(WASHINGTON, DC, 6/23/06) - A prominent national Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today called on media professionals not to refer to seven terror suspects arrested in Miami as "Muslims."

The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR ) said media reports indicate that the suspects are part of a sect called "Seas of David."

When asked by CNN why group members refer to themselves as "soldiers," "Brother Corey" said: "Because we study and we train through the bible, not only physical -- not only physical, but mentally." Group members also worship in a "temple," not in an Islamic mosque.

SEE: Terror Arrests in Miami (CNN) (The relevant interview is toward the bottom of the page.)

The group bears some resemblance to the cult of Yahweh ben Yahweh, which operated in the same part of Miami, Liberty City, in the 1980's.

"Given that the reported beliefs of this bizarre group have nothing to do with Islam, we ask members of the media to refrain from calling them 'Muslims,'" said CAIR spokesperson Ahmed Bedier. He thanked U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta for noting that "today's indictment. . .is not against a particular group or a particular faith."

Bedier urged the government to avoid confusing the public by using Arabic terminology in referring to the case. In a briefing today in Miami, government officials did not call the suspects "Muslims," but did refer to allegations of plans for "violent jihad."

At a news conference earlier today in Miami, CAIR called on police departments nationwide to protect mosques and other Islamic institutions from any possible backlash prompted by the mistaken linkage of this case to the American Muslim community.

CAIR, America's largest Muslim civil liberties group, has 32 offices, chapters and affiliates nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

Muslim, to me equates to "seriously flawed psyche." Anyone, ANYONE who is Muslim, of the Islamic faith (ha!) is not to be trusted for one damn minute. They are all crazy to get caught up in that dementia, regardless of how tame, peaceful, intelligent, nice, caring, they SEEM to be. Given the right timing and circumstance they will cut your throat and not think a thing about it.

I understand that you don't like their beliefs. but once we get rid of the terrorist crazies that would attack us, our job is done.

Are you supposing that the U.S. government should start a program of conversion by the sword ?

That we sould send in the Marines because people live under a system where they are denied the "inherent dignity of humanity, or the rights of individuals who are not members of their specific faith and sub-group. "

Lets say Al-Quada did not threaten us - Would you want to waste a single American soldiers life to stop the fighting between the Sunnis and the Sheites ?

... and THEN send in government missionaries to convert them ?

Like I said, once the threat to US is gone, they can pray to fire hydrants if they want.

I sent an email to the two guys above.

Subject: The Miami Muslims

CAIR is a propaganda and front organization for Islamic Jihad and more and more Americans are aware of Jihad, Sharia and Dhimmi.

We remember the sentiment of Omar M. Ahmad, your chairman, “Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.”

You just go ahead and try your Jihad in America and see where it gets you.

Interesting how you added the quote symbols, when the original reporter quoted statements both before and after this, but did NOT mark this as a quote ...

You miss my point. I wouldn't care a whit about their beliefs if those beliefs didn't command them to kill me and my children. With that simple line in the sand, they are not my concern.

However, in the Koran for anyone with eyes to see and a mind to understand, it is clear that this is demanded. Now in the Bible, it is demanded that if someone breaks the Sabbath, they should be put to death. But, I cannot remember an instance of this being enforced, possibly for several hundred years. Perhaps I am wrong.

Islam can reinterpret the Koran and join the family of man and live in a godly way. But this is a choice they must make.

However, what I was saying is that there is no end of the terrorist crazies as long as there is not the strongest of norms in Islam that all humans have the right to exist and worship god as they may without interference. And Islam must accept that reward of Martyrdom cannot flow from any evil act such as suicide, or murder.

The problem of "terrorism" and piracy being associated with Islam is as old as Islam. The United States first war was with the Barbary Pirates who "terrorized" the Mediterranean and African Coastal waters, demanding tribute for protection against their predations. Hence the line in the Marine Hymn, "to the shores of Tripoli."

Its against our values and our own sacred beliefs to attempt forced conversations, and by the rules of Islam, you can profess to have converted and commit no sin against Islam as long as you hold in your heart that you are true to Islam. So that whence you are no longer under threat, you can reclaim Islam and be completely blameless. Or at least make this claim, that you were coerced, to avoid the fate that they had intended for that poor hapless Afgan gentleman who had the gall to claim he had become a Christian.

The bigger problem for us as Americans is that with the Trillions of dollars we are pumping into the Middle East. A rock throwing match between Sunnis and Shea quickly grows to engulf the rest of the world. And if they hate each other and mistreat each other, they see us as VERMIN to be removed from the face of the world.

So, if you walk away and attempt to ignore people who are plotting your death, using the money and rights and freedoms that you attempt to provide them. Don't be surprised any more than the folks of Medina, that they are calling at your gate the moment you are vulnerable.

This is a terrible problem, that can only be solved by the whole world essentially saying to the various Islamic factions, enough. Renounce your evil!

George Bush announced a plan to deal with this called Freedom and Justice and Democracy. This is the great controversy of our time because many believe that this is a Polly Anna dream, that these countries are capable of Democracy, Secular Governance, Religious Tolerance, and Basic Human rights and Freedom. But this is his plan, and the humanity and trust in God that he witnesses in putting this forward is nothing less than breathtaking. The reason Iraq is key to the war on terror long after the crazies are defeated is that it hold the possibility of showing that "There is a better way."

Failing this, the more likely outcome is death for humans by the Billion. I wish it wasn't. This is why I pray that Bush is right, and believe we all owe ourselves to do what ever is necessary to save these people from walking into a "life or death" confrontation with the United States.

Sorry, you're simply wrong.

It appears that YOUR interpretation might be tha same as the terrorists, but most of the billion Muslims on the planet are not trying to kill anyone.

The terrorists and YOU are the ones who are doing the re-interpreting.

Sorry, you're simply wrong.

This is called an assertion against evidence. Which is really cool. Especially when you want to believe the person who is making the assertion.

Because you are making this statement against evidence that even you acknowledge at the outset. You must offer evidence for your position. Otherwise.. this sort of statement is like the proverbial.. "Oh Yea!"

Still, as it would be really nice if you were right. Please share. How is it that you are right. And how will "reformed" Islam provide this end to the horror that is being perpetrated in its name around the world. From Murders in Thailand, to Churches being burned in Pakistan and Kosovo, to the outrages of the Iraqi insurgency, or Hamas sponsoring killing school children in Israel, to the sands of Darfur.. The list of Islamic horrors for just 2006, just six months old is sickening.

I will only site one instance of each of my charged atrocities except Iraq (whats the point - these are in the news daily). Sadly most are in multiple instances already in this one year.

Seven Murdered in Thailand

Churches Burnt - Pakistan

Churches Burnt - Kosovo - Eastern Orthodox

Israelis killed outside fast-food stall

Horror in Darfur

There are folks who post lists as long as my arm here.. so this is shooting fish in a bucket. Now Islam is not responsible for all evil on the face of the earth. But, as I said, you are the one making the "That's not true" statement.

PROVE IT

"This is called an assertion against evidence."

Just what am I supposed to prove ? Am I to post the entire Koran to prove your assertion is false ?

YOU made the assertions ...

"I wouldn't care a whit about their beliefs if those beliefs didn't command them to kill me and my children."

"However, in the Koran for anyone with eyes to see and a mind to understand, it is clear that this is demanded."

So YOU prove it - Show me just where in the Koran it says to kill you and your children.

... otherwise, you're simply wrong.

Oooh, I see, and I suppose Christians commit jihad... In other words, jihad is a Christian term. Yep.
