School district loses its (T-)shirt, must pay ex-student's legal fees in 'redneck' case

This case demonstrates why a limitation of federal courts' jurisdiction is needed today, if not before. Were the federal courts, with their $150,000 judges and support staff and buildings really created for the purpose of deciding whether a certain student should or should not wear a certain T-shirt to school.

Gimme a d*mned break. Any case that does not involve the interests of at least 1,000 students, or 10% of the students in a given school or school system, should be EXCLUDED from federal jurisdiction. This is just a matter of common sense. And I would like to propose exactly such a bill in the Congress of the US.

Several years ago I went to Minneapolis for a job interview. One of my AF buddies, a good 'ol boy from Florida, lived there and one night we went out for dinner. Our waitress was from Duluth and Minneapolis was the furthest south she had ever been in her life. We started telling her the "you know your a redneck if..." jokes and the more we told them the more she didn't get it. Her reaction actually was funnier than the jokes. My favorite, You know you're a redneck if someone asks for your ID and you show him your belt buckle.

they did, 4 yrs. ago, the case is finally settled. It will cost the school board or rather, the taxpayers more than $1 million.
