Former U.S. Senator and presidential candidate, George McGovern, says he has encouraged Tom Daschle to run for president in 2008.
McGovern lost to Republican Richard Nixon in the 1972 election. Eight years later he lost his bid for re-election to the Senate.
McGovern expects up to a dozen people to run for the Democratic nomination for president, and he says Daschle has as good a chance as anyone.
Daschle expects to make a decision by year's end on whether he'll run.

You know, as the years go by many things change; but it's nice to know George McGovern stays as dumb as ever.

McGovern just wants somebody to take the "worst performance in presidential election history" title from him.
Oh wait, Mondale already did. Well, McGovern wants to drop down to third.

Cripes. The guy was 'Rat leader in the Senate and couldn't even win re-election from his own state to that post. Yep, a real vote-getter there, for sure.
I really wonder where the 'Rats come up with this kind of stuff.
