Back during the first Gulf War, CPT Yolanda Huet-Vaughn thought that she would become the darling of the left by refusing to deploy when her Reserve medical unit was called to active duty. She had a real big shock when she was inprocessed to the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, KS. None of her leftie, loser friends were around. They were all elsewhere enjoying their Chardonney, weed, and Sex-du-jour.
Our young friend is about to learn the same lesson

This meathead ought to reflect on what Saddam would have done to a soldier who refused to deploy...

All volunteer force.
No draft.
You sign away certain rights and accept certain duties and consequences, upon joining the DOD.
Everyone who has ever donned a uniform is informed in no uncertain terms about Leavenworth.
Supposedly, so are elected and appointed federal officials.
Seems to me, the facility is underutilized, lately....

Is this about the guy at Ft. Lewis? He has attracted many terrorist sympathizers to the gates of Ft. Lewis. Here's ONE of their signs. If anybody wants to help counter these nutjobs, be there this saturday!

Give him an appropriate prison sentence at Ft. Leavenworth, then give him a Dishonorable Discharge with no benefits.
As a condition of sentence, make him read a book about Alvin York...

I hope the Army convenes a Courts Martial. I'd like to see this done right. Allow Watada to plead his miserable case before a mixed jury of senior enlisted and field grade officers........combat veterans all.

I can tell you that here in Hawaii the talk and expressed opinions are heavily in the direction of hanging our heads in shame that an officer, an Island boy would be the one to bring dishonor. This is the home of the most decorated combat Regiment in WWII...the famous 442nd....the go for broke guys. These guys are now in their 80's and very disapointed that the first officer to refuse to follow orders to deploy to Iraq is of Japanese ancestry, as are they. Auwe, Auwe
To: Islander2
No one even mentions it here in Hilo. Watada's father is a pol kingpin so thoughts are repressed among the members of the machine.
Also, listen to the Akaka ads. Just follow the herd.
The 442nd got honors the hard was...they earned it.

No one mentions it in Hilo ? Excuse me big city, but out here in the country we Punatics do talk about it.....especially here in Kea'au. Mahalo

Throw the book at that soldier and institute a dishonorable discharge proceeding.

Glad to meet ya, Punatic!
What a difference a 10 minute drive makes!
You, of course know who Watada's daddy is?

Watada pulled this stunt at Ft Lewis, an Army staging area for deployment. I don't think his argument that this war is illegal is going to fly. A little matter of the resolution of Congress is overlooked. Also it's a little too late to claim conscientious objector status, having been assigned to and having served in a Stryker unit.
His CO could be his best friend or his worst enemy. Check the latter.

You bet. A very loose cannon who knows where the bodies are buried and how the "good old boys" operate. Big article about him in the Trib. Our take is that people are starting to get really fed up with the Dem. party machinery and the hold the unions have on them. We will put Gov. Lingle back in come Nov. Wave those signs, bruddah.
