My uncle was the lead night shift mechanic for TWA in 1996. That evening he was off. When I asked him what he thought of the fuel tank theory he said "no way".

My daughter and I were home in less than 10 minutes from the first announcement. We, too, saw that clip, and the folks in shock.
At that time, too, there were (?) hopes for survivors. I remember a lot of shots of stuff in the water, and many, many people on the beach.

They were all over the news telling what they saw. All of them pretty much telling the same story. I always wondered if any of them had any "accidents".

I always thot James Kalstrum(?) , the lead FBI investigator , was an honest person. Hard to resolve

I used to think so too, but not anymore. He was definitely ordered to sell the ridiculous fuel tank explosion theory. Who knows though, since the Clintons were in charge and anyone who has ever crossed them takes dirt naps, maybe he had no choice.

OK, I accept that, but it seems to me you are spliting hairs. So your take is one heck of a lot of people saw a streak that went from the ground (ocean) to the plane, then the plance crashed. If it wasn't a missile, what was it?

I don't know and you have a point. Supposedly 270 people saw a streak and then an explosion. Scores of people witness something coming from the surface to hit the plane but many more did not see anything come from the surface. I don't know what to make of it. Were there any boats in the area that are unexplained?

the fact that NONE of these blast patterns--let alone the explosive residue from the warhead itself--was found on the remains of TWA 800 rules out a missile attack.

If they are covering up what happened, you expect them to say otherwise?!

The reason is simple: did the investigators find the blast pattern and remains of a MANPAD warhead anywhere on the plane? Given that each type of MANPAD has a distinct warhead detonation pattern (whether it's Stinger, SA-7, SA-18, Blowpipe, etc.), the fact that NONE of these blast patterns--let alone the explosive residue from the warhead itself--was found on the remains of TWA 800 rules out a missile attack.

This is why I am skeptical of the missile theory.

Yeah. It was heartbreaking. People going out in boats looking for survivors. Camera shots of debris everywhere. And local newsies stating openly that it was a missile attack.

If I remember right, didn't the news switch gears and start stating that all these witnesses were at parties and could have been drunk etc?

An egg sized incendiary device dropped into the fuel tank by a fuel loader could explain the lack of evidence. The fuel acted as a solvent that slowly dissolved a barrier in the incediary device. Once dissolved, the device would ignite.

He was also the person impugning the FBI during the DC Sniper manhunt. He was loudly claiming that the FBI and other law enforcement entities were derelict in not looking for "white supremacists" as the perps.

I remember it as well, being familiar with Long Island, people from different parts of the south shore were giving the same descriptions even though they were miles apart.

I'm all ears if anyone want to discredit that report, because until viewing it, I was convinced that this was clearly an act of terror.

---------------------------------

I personally know two eye-witnesses who saw a rocket trail arc up from the horizon then saw the explosion and the fall. They are both mature, stable people with no axe to grind. I doubt that any CGI illustrated theory would convince them otherwise.

I believe there is substantial validity to what you guys are saying.

I remember distinctly, in the immediate aftermath of the crash that Kallstrom was adamant, to the point of being righteously PO'ed that this was an act of terror. Then after a few weeks like a dimmer switch, he backed off that stridency considerably and later became an advocate for the center tank explosion theory.

Quite disgusting actually, if this is indeed how the thing went down.

At 8:31, FAA radar operators out of Islip saw an unknown object appear on-screen and head toward Flight 800. At the same moment, FAA radar picked up something else unusual – a ship of good size nearly right under Flight 800's airborne position.

How does an FAA air traffic control radar pick up a surface object? If that radar picked up every metal object on land or sea - ships, buildings, water towers, trucks, trains, what have you - then how can they distinguish air planes from all the ground clutter?

There are some that would argue with you about W's ignoring the stupid things that happened on Billy-Goat's "watch," but I'm not one of them.

By rights both members of the Dynamic Duo should be wearing orange jump suits, but they're allowed to flit around free as birds with Billy-Goat collecting fat fees for his hillbilly, trailer trash speeches and the voters of New Yarkansas giving the infamous Hillary the privilege to join their other illustrious senator in the hallowed halls of the U. S. Senate.

Amazing.

AP: Washington. The 1,437th 747 exploded today over Los Angeles due to a center fuel tank explosion. The FAA seaid they this will continue until they figure out how to prevent it. Another 747 is expected to explode in the same manner tomorrow.

This is why I am skeptical of the missile theory.

If they are trying to cover something up, why would they give you info that would prove a coverup? I have an advantage over you in that I was in the NYcity area when it happened and got news BEFORE the newsies and witnesses were shushed.

Yeah, I think we watched the coverage until it was announced around 3 am or so that there would be no survivors.
It was very sad.
I prayed that the initial blast (decompression?) killed everyone, but I understand that later it was found that some pour souls survived initially.
Until the impact with the ocean, and maybe a bit afterwards.

There was a photo of the "streak". Several witnesses in a military helicopter had flown in Viet Nam, had seen and been under missile attack and identified the streak as a missile!
