I'll have full-course pics up later today ('tis well after midnight as I type). Got some good ones, like the all-corners damage to the Dollar General, Rusty's condo, a couple of victory lane, pit crew action in the 88 and 60 pits, some shredded tars off of Mad Dog Wallace's car (courtesy Happy), and the TV panel off of Strumme's car in the hands of a lucky fan (unfortunately, not mine).

One thing to say about Mad Dog; his dad provides a NICE condo warwagon, complete with 2-row seating, a canopy for the folks up top, and a big screen for the folks behind big enough to see comfortably from behind the fence separating the pits from the paddock (can you guess where I spent most of the race, especially since the 64 took the first stall past the finish line and there was an opening between that and the 2?). Can't say he's real smart fighting with the leaders while 2 laps down though.

They didn't go to a backup, and neither did Kim "Bordeaux Butt Paste" Crosby (she didn't bring one), though she only stayed out long enough to finish 40th (mangled rear suspension from her hit of the wall in qualifying).

Pick 'n Save is the 800-lb grocery gorilla up here, and Brewco has had that 1-race deal for the last few years. They're so dominant, they don't really care much about WalMart's SuperCenters :-)

Speaking of qualifying, I'm betting that Hurricane Hamlin wished he joined Happy and Bow-wow out of Sonoma early; that 20 car was strong all day. The only long-distance guys who made it here in time to do their own qualifying were the RCR boys.

For the record, Pick 'n Save is the 8,000-pound gorilla of grocery stores here. Safeway won't touch them, Albertson's Jewel barely made any inroads in their return to Wisconsin, A&P pulled the plug on Kohl's a couple years ago, and Walmart's SuperCenters don't seem to be having much of an impact.

Speaking of Happy, his wreck drew tbe 2nd-loudest cheers of the night.

Well that's it. I'm wiped out. Hopefully I'll be awake in time for some road racing, but if I'm not, put me down for 7 full-course cautions (remember, we're at a road course, so you can have local cautions).

There certainly were a lot of wrecks according to the lap by lap on BGN.

I wondered during qualifying interviews why Mad Dog said they were not going to the backup car. I'm sure they have a great one considering the money Rusty puts into this team including the warwagon you describe. How did the 71 year old driver Hylton do?

From the other board that follows Nascar that's easier for my computer to load than this thread, I read that Yay Yay spun out Harvick resulting in the Navy team getting wrecked. We're still awaiting a report on McFarland who seemed to be favoring his wrist as he got into the ambulance. Jr can't afford for his driver to be hurt since he already has his own DEI Busch ride next week at Daytona........WooHoo Daytona!!!!

Sounds like you had a good spot to see both the pits and the race on the big screen TV. I'm glad the weather held out. Did it ever rain? Did you catch up with Herm?

I'm wondering if the 29 will be ok Sunday after that long flight back and forth across half the country. He didn't practice in Happy Hour at all. There is a new car for JJ and Fellows which are setup and built like the LeMans chassis somehow. They were having trouble getting it to turn yesterday so that should be interesting to watch.

I don't think anyone posted the Busch results, I can't get on the page anymore because of the large pictures. It's the pits living in the slow tech lane. :)
