Dispirited Liberal Justices
www.confirmthem.com ^ | June 20, 2006

From a report filed by Tony Mauro in the Legal Times, commenting on yesterday’s announcement in the Rapanos case:

On a day that foreshadowed politically charged battles ahead, the Supreme Court on Monday divided sharply on the scope of the Clean Water Act while also agreeing to widen its review of the federal partial-birth abortion ban next fall.

Also on view was a dispirited liberal wing of the Court. Though Stevens, 86, read from his dissent vigorously, the justices who joined him — Stephen Breyer, David Souter, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg — appeared gloomy and fatigued.

Great!! Dare we hope for some imminent retirements from this sorry bunch?? Interesting, is it not, how an MSM reporter can describe Souter as part of the "liberal wing of the Court" -- it's accurate, of course, but considering that he was appointed by a Republican president it was not supposed to turn out that way..... of course that's what happened with several other RINO appointments in the past....

I'm certainly tired of them. And I'll be gloomy if we must endure them much longer....

Ruth Bader Ginsburg — appeared gloomy and fatigued

Isn't that the normal demeanor of Ruth "Sleepy" Ginsberg?

I hope both Stevens and Ginsberg have to retire within the year and that the President gets to replace them.

They are holding out for the Senate election, no doubt.

The oldies are feeling the heat. Time for them to get out of the kitchen.

They are holding out for the next Presidential election and if we can get another Republican in, we get two more Judges IMO.

Ginsberg was dealing with cancer and the other one is 86. We know they can't go another 6 years, but will they drop before Bush leaves? Maybe they will.

At 86 years old, he is always "gloomy and fatigued". Do the country a favor and retire.

I don't want them to drop dead. I want them to have a long and happy retirement basking in the affection of their grandchildren.

Starting tomorrow.

I didn't say they had to drop dead either. That is one of the major ways they tend to leave though.

One is real old, the other getting over troubles with cancer.
Retirement would be good for all of us of those two right now.

Why should Ruthie appear fatigued. She naps during oral arguments before the Court.

I can't imagine how Stevens and Ginsburg are hanging in there as sick as they both look. I keep telling myself it has to be only a matter of time before they can be replaced.

Liberals are gloomy depressing people. To them the glass is half empty. They don't trust people to make individual decisions. I grew up with liberals in charge for decades, and despise their arrogance. That is why they hated Reagan and hate Bush as well, and Bush is moderate on some issues.

The court balance is changing. Can you imagine if Rehnquist and O'Connor had been replaced by a President John Kerry with 2 liberal judges? The Dems are praying, at least those Dems who believe in such things, are praying that Ginsburg and Stevens can hold on until Jan. 2009, when a President Hillary can replace them.

There will be fireworks if either of these two retire before then, that's for sure.
