Report: U.S. Missile Defense Systems Activated
North Korea Dismisses Its Own Test-Ban Treaty
POSTED: 11:08 am MDT June 20, 2006
UPDATED: 12:16 pm MDT June 20, 2006
TOKYO -- Japan's Kyodo News agency reports the United States has activated its missile defense system ahead of a possible North Korean missile test.
Kyodo didn't identify its sources. The agency said the United States is considering intercepting the missile if North Korea goes ahead with the test launch.
The United States, Japan and allies have urged the north not to test the missile, which is believed to be capable of reaching the United States. The White House said Monday the test missile had been fueled and was ready for launch.

What retribution can we shower down on North Korea if the worst happens????......will we have to depend on the U.N. to decide whether or not we can protect our allies and ourselves?

How bad is it going to look if we try to shoot it down and we miss it? Iran and NK would wet themselves and push the envelope even FURTHER

During yesterday morning (6/19) Paul Harvey news, he said that the North Koreans were planning to do a test of a long range missile response. He said the United States response was "please, pretty please don't do that."
I think he got it just about right.

I'd love to be an American diplomat in the aftermath...
"On behalf of the United States government, I would like to thank the North Koreans for their assistance in the testing of our new missile defence system."

What retribution can we shower down on North Korea Ummm ... Each of the US Navy's Ohio class fleet ballistic missile submarines carries 24 Trident II D5 missiles, with 5 each 475 kT W-88 warheads aboard independently targeted and maneuverable re-entry vehicles per missile. They have sufficient range to hit North Korea from just about anywhere in the world. I believe there are currently 18 such submarines in US Naval service, which means at any time, several of them are on patrol. If we wanted to shower retribution on North Korea ...

Personally I think that we should very bluntly inform ol' Kim that if that missile takes off without his government stating it's purpose we will consider it an act of war and react appropriately.
Back that up by moving 3 or 4 Nuke Subs off the coast of NK ready to fire.

I'd rather we try, miss, and LEARN what went wrong than have to rely on the SDI system for a real attack and not know.

We should intercept it before it leaves the ground.

I'm about 99% sure we won't miss.......We got some stuff NK, Iran, and most Americans don't know about. The newest US Navy missile frigates are tied directly into military / GPS / Com sats for both offense and defense and these vessels are already in Guam.....the Chinese have been invited to watch our 'maneuvers'. The NSA, CIA, etc., knew about this launch 3 months ago or better, so would one think these Naval exercises are coincidental? Think about the speed of computers today we can buy off the shelf....with parallel processing employed, real-time trajectory analysis is a piece of cake. The antimissile missile guidance system is real-time for in flight adjustments until the missile 'can see' the target. The US may pop 3 shots to make sure the NK missile comes down over international waters.
