Baghdad, 20 June (AKI) - Sources in Ramadi in the restive al-Anbar province report that large groups of armed foreign militants are fleeing towards the Syrian border, as US and Iraqi forces tighten their siege on the city. Ramadi, some 100 kilometres west of Baghdad, is a stronghold of the insurgency and there are reports of many residents also fleeing in fear of an assault. Sources told Adnkronos International (AKI) that local tribes were also pursuing foreign terrorists "because of the immense damage they have done to infrastructure and the bad name they have given the insurgency by terror attacks against innocent civilians."
The sources added that "the armed men are heading towards the highlands near the Euphrates in an effort to find a secure refuge," emphasising that "the murder of the head of the Karabila tribe, Osama al-Jadaan, in al-Mansour last month, by al-Qaeda operators, triggered a vendetta by his relatives and followers."

Good idea, which I did last night. I e-mailed my senator, David Vitter of Louisiana, who is a pretty straight-shooting guy. I told him I really hope the torture and murder of the two young soldiers will be a watershed event that will result in drastic changes in the stupid and self-defeating way we're conducting this "war."
Keep us posted and stay safe.
Yes.
Here's a video of our guys and gals on the "night shift", taking care of some of those IED planting folks...

That's the kind of footage we should have been giving the media a-holes on a regular basis to send a message to the insurgents: this could be you. But no, we don't want any feathers, do we? So let's fight this war in a sensitive manner (and lose the PR war). As I said in my original post, I'm very disappointed in my Air Force leadership and the DoD in general. This war is being run by a bunch of brainiac wimps.
What makes you think that we are not deploying our air assets?
If he is ever elected president, I already have plans to leave the country.
Hey Muslims, Dont bother to run..you will only die tired.
Cry HAVOC and let slip the dogs of war........
Yeah............ or maybe a Flight of P47s making a strafing run.
Just like we did to the Germans in a Faliase Pocket.
Probably. This way we don't risk causing some 'international incident'. It wouldn't look good and some people might not like us.
If you happen to tune in any cable station but Fox, though, all you see is anti-American baloney, Iraqi quagmire, Marine fiends, etc.. And nonstop democrat talking heads. Bush mistakes, Bush lies, etc.. Didn't see anyone discussing what they'd done to our two butchered soldiers but Fox. It's as if they're in an alternate universe.
I did many TDY's to the 4 FOL's in Germany and once a year to a big one in Spain.
The best ones were the regular deployments to Germany. They'd send 4 planes, and 4 crew chiefs for a couple weeks. On the weekends we'd get on a train and jut go anywhere. Get off at some small town we'd never heard of, go into a pub, grab a menu, close your eyes and put you finger on the menu and order whatever you were pointing at. Those Germans sure know how to eat!
We always hoped the C-130 would break when it was time to go home cause we'd get to "Rail and Sail" back to England . THAT was a blast.
so is it safe to stay in the ramandi inn now? Do they have HBO still?
My thoughts exactly... I've long advocated sweeps of the infiltration corridors with A-10s, as well as sporadic, irregular B-52 carpet-bombing runs along the same routes. The latter would probably have little tactical value, but would have an immense psychological impact.
I agree. The purpose of the military is to break stuff and kill people. Not to be a blocking force, or perform a police action, or to be humanitarians.
The utter fallacy of nonlethal war is a cornerstone of liberal idiocy.
Turn up the heat on your representatives, and you will turn up the heat on our enemies.
Awesome shot of the A-1... My second-favorite plane, after the A-10.
I spoke with an A-10 pilot a short time ago about the ground-attack variant of the F-16... He said the Warthog pilots call the F-16s "lawn darts", because of their tendancy to fly straight into the ground after a few AA rounds or an off-axis missile shot.
Not so the mighty A-10.
Good for you but don't slack off. Keep up the pressure so he knows someone is watching and is aware of all the moves he makes. Hope you got some more of your unit to join you.
